Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe Star is VERY noisy; especially if you have a room at the front. I brought an eye mask and ear plugs and I recommend this! Our room had the frames for secondary glazing but none in it. I really think that the hotel should provide earplugs (I stayed in a hotel in Manchester city centre that does this) before investing in secondary glazing (if allowed in this listed building) Now that The Dolphin has gone, The Star has put its prices up so hopefully can invest to grow business further. Our room had quality curtains but black out blinds / curtains would also aid good sleep ( all hotels should have them!)
This was our third time staying at The Star as it is incredibly convenient for an evening out. This time we had our second best room so far. It was quirky but had what we needed and had a very stylish, large, recently fitted bathroom with bath and separate walk-in shower. The floors are wonky (we had to go uphill to the bathroom) and the quite grand furniture was a bit scruffy but quite endearing! The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was very tasty and good value.

United KingdomDidn’t have breakfast but it looked like bad canteen food. Lots of cafes on the same street I’d try my luck there.
A hundred time more charming than a Travelodge aground the same price point, but the hotel is somewhat run down, with paper thin walls and windows that let a lot of noise through. It’s a nice property in a great location- it’s a shame it feels like them could do so much more with it.

United KingdomThe shower water was too hot and I was unable to lower the temperature. I found the top floor ver6 difficult to access, if I stayed again I would book a first floor room and the parking was a nightmare.
The location was amazing so central, staff were very pleasant and helpful.

United KingdomThe shower needs some work doing on it, as do the taps in the sink. The shower was dirty, the shower head needs cleaning. There was shavings on the sink and the toilet wasn’t very clean. I didn’t like walking through the breakfast room with my luggage on departure, while guests were eating breakfast.

New ZealandVery friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is very central to town, easy walking to shops, cafes and restaurants. Lovely breakfast which catered for my food intolerances. Quaint, old style hotel with a working old elevator for the higher levels.

CanadaThere's no A/C and We had to open the windows to cool the room so we could hear the Noise from the alley below. The bathtub was very slippery, made showering a little tricky.
Location is great! Very Close to shopping. Room and bathroom were very nice. Coffee and tea in the room. A small pub in the hotel.
