Shower worked well but could do with a spruce up.

Room was good and almost perfect. One or two little flaws which could easily be rectified. In the main very good and the location is excellent. Breakfast was top notch.

Being charged to park in the car park. Size of the bed. Would have preferred kingsize

The central location was fabulous. The period details of the hotel. Live entertainment on Saturday evening.

quite dingy, but it is an old building. very narrow corridors to room. Once we had finished our evening meal, we took our empty water glasses to the waiter at reception. he didn't appear to be doing anything but said he was busy when we asked for more water and he would do it in a minute. he then took the 2 glasses through to the bar, which we didn't know was there and filled the same 2 glasses, and we therefore didn't know which glass was which. a small thing but he made me feel like I was being a nuisance.

very central. most staff very helpful and friendly. the room was large but a bit dated. it is in keeping with the type of hotel, though. I noticed robes in the wardrobe, which we didn't actually use. a nice extra.

The shower in the room was out of order. I booked the room many months ago in advance . Before we arrived I received several emails from you. One on the morning before we arrived. No mention of any issues. No one told us about the shower until I complained. To the lady I spoke to this morning the fact that the room had a bath was acceptable. I explained that due to previous surgery I could not lift myself out of a bath. She suggested that the next time I book I should request a shower. Ridiculous, I have never been into a hotel room without a shower, even over a bath.

We have dined there many times. It has a good feel to it . The staff are always pleasant

Good choice of cooked breakfast but the veggie option was limited. Some of the fresh fruit looked a bit sad. No lift so if your room is on the first or second floor it's a bit of a climb especially if you have luggage.

Excellent location in the heart of Penrith. Historic grade 2 listed buildings with some impressive rooms. Very comfortable kingsize bed. Elemis products in the bathroom. Car parking available fir £3.

It would be better to have a walk in shower rather than a shower over the bath which is inaccessible

Hazel was excellent...she was very helpful in the restaurant and assisted us in providing a meal to one of the rooms.

As we had a dog we were put in a dog friendly room which was fine but it smelt and the corridor leading to it was not hoovered. The room decor was very tired with stains on the walls and carpet.

The property is lovely and It was very dog friendly and comfortable

No lift so we had to carry suitcases up to the 4th floor. They won't service the room unless you tell them every evening that you want the room cleaned next day.

We had two rooms. One was top notch the other needed upgrading even though we were told they had both been renovated. I was told ours (room 32) had been done around two years ago which I find difficult to believe. The furniture and decor was not fresh like room 42 which our friends had and there was mold on the bathroom ceiling which I mentioned at reception on Sat evening. Also rooms don’t get serviced unless you ask at reception. Which may be in the information sent via email but I would have expected to be told this information when checking in. I don’t feel that it was right to charge the same for each room as the quality was totally different.

There is a lot to like about this hotel. It’s in a great location. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent.

The dining area, stairs & social areas including the car park were unclean. There was ingrained dust on the stairs, carpets in the dining areas were full of debris & the car park was littered in places with overflowing bins. The bedroom & bathroom needed some TLC despite being clean for example the blinds in the bathroom were broken, the shower head wasn’t working particularly well.

The staff were very friendly & helpful. The food was good. The bedroom was clean & tidy.

I found that the hotel car park was a little difficult to find. Having said that once i'd found it everything else was great!

Friendly and helpful staff. Perfect location right in the centre of Penrith too. Car park fee was very reasonable too. Perfect for a one night stay... or maybe longer if ever i return!
