The room could’ve been a little bigger. It was the smallest of the three double rooms we stayed in on our three night long weekend away from home. The en-suite was small and being sat on the toilet was a little difficult - jammed between the very hot radiator and the sink.

The lady on reception was engaging and very helpful. She was excellent. The front of house staff were all friendly and delivered good customer service. The bar and lounge area were comfortable. The bar staff were friendly and helpful. The location of the George Hotel is perfect for exploring Penrith centre.

The constant bombardment with emails from the hotel re upgrading the room . One would have been enough but everyday sometimes twice a day Had an evening meal , ran out of steak , on a Saturday night! Ran out of Salmon at breakfast on Sunday . Great planning .room was way to hotel opened window but a fair bit of noise outside . So for the cost I think it was not really worth the money if I’m being honest

Our shower wasn’t working unfortunately which impacted on our stay. We were offered an upgraded room on the floor above us but had declined. We had already unpacked but most importantly as my husband is disabled it would have meant him climbing another set of stairs.

A little chilly, not the usual toasty place I've been before. Also a little sad that the bed wasn't made whilst there and the teas not topped off.

The lovely hot water, I must have been near the water tank. Brilliant location for buses and trains. Really enjoyed being able to have friends join me for a catch up.

Beautiful old hotel with great features. The menu was great, and Christmas decorations really lovely. I was on my own for work and they really looked after me. Liked it so much I'm returning with my husband for a weekend this year.

Our room was a little tired, but we understand the hotel is slowly refurbishing, we stayed a few month's ago in one of the refurbished rooms which was much better. The car park area at the back of the property is a bit tatty, the storage area for the hotel is in full sight of guests and looks like it needs a good clear out.

Breakfast was very good. The staff are always very pleasant and efficient.

The room we stayed in had been recently refurbished, it was clean and bright. The bathroom was particularly good, with a spacious walk in shower. The bedroom was small, but perfectly adequate, although the desk was a little too large for the room, meaning that the person who sleeps on the left had every chance of hitting their shins on it if getting up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. (I have the bruises to attest to this!) The bed was also new, the mattress was firm but comfortable.

I was on the third floor and there are no lifts. I had some heavy bags to carry so it was a bit of a struggle up three flights of stairs. The rooms had just been refurbished and the bathroom was lovely.

It is an historic hotel which is popular with the local farming community. I enjoy being their to hear the chat and Cumbrian accents. The hotel is in the centre of Penrith and not too far from the station.

Friendly staff. Warm welcome and kind gesture of a box of chocolates and birthday card left in the room for my wife. Really comfortable bed, luxurious toiletries and en-suite shower. Delicious breakfast served by friendly staff and really relaxing as you can sit wherever you like in the dining room or lounge areas.

The adjacent pub was really really cold, despite the best efforts of the staff to place fan heaters around. We took our drinks to the lounge.

The staff are extremely personable, and very willing to help. Despite it snowing outside, the rooms were warm and welcoming. I was surprised that despite there being several Christmas parties around the hotel, we didn't hear a cheep through the night - we had a very restful evening. The food was delicious.
