Tuesday morning booked breakfast in our room very good, but when staff collected plates ect mistakenly the collected cups, so we asked reception to arrange new cups for following day for us but reception asked if we could go to the hotel bar and ask for replacement cups there, disappointed we had to arrange our replacement cups, only Minor but trading reception staff ?

Breakfast very good and location also very good

Room wasnt available at 3pm check as bit short staffed with room service. However, as it was a lovely day we walked around the beautiful town for an hour until it was ready.

Great Breakfast. Amazing location. Clean spacious room.

I couldn't fault this hotel - I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel

I loved everything about this hotel - it's oldy world, lovely location in heart of Woodstock, and very near Blenheim Palace. I loved staff - Receptionist who checked me in was very kind to me and gave me lots of local information. Room lovely and bed / linen very comfortable, bathroom spotless with lovely Elemis toiletries! Breakfast delicious and staff/service excellent

The room was up a steep flight of external steps at the end of the courtyard. The receptionist gave our key and told us we would find our room 'out through the door on the left' which given the actual location, was vague in the extreme. Had it been raining, the exterior steps to the room would have been less than ideal. We left an item behind and when we called, the same receptionist promised a call back but never did so.

    Central location and comfortable room.

Breakfast was good. Staff could have explained where buffet etc was. A pot or cafetière of coffee would be nicer, rather than just one small cup.

It needs money spending on it. It used to be an amazing place with great food but now it is characterful but tired. We were given a disability access room but as we booked on the day and had a dog, we couldn’t complain. The main heating wasn’t working but there was a portable radiator in the room which was on when we arrived and kept the room warm. Bathroom was cold though and my shower water was cold, although my husband showered afterwards and had hot water. Also, it’s not good to charge for parking at a so called 4* hotel. We did not try the restaurant as the menu was very basic and expensive. Went somewhere else instead.

We liked the history of The Bear and character of the main building. Also its location in Woodstock. We booked last minute and had our dog with us so booked a standard room off the courtyard and car parking. The room was comfortable with 2 armchairs and kettle and coffee machine. From the outside it looked tired but the room was quite comfortable and looked as if it had been painted in recent times. It was adequate for our needs with a dog.

Location was good parking good and free. Food was ok small menue.

Our room 45 is next to the upstairs lounge where there was a noisy group on Friday in that room until after 3 am!!

Location is good but we knew that having stayed at the hotel before and we have lived in the area. A lift would have helped my wife who temporarily has mobility problems.
