Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThere was nothing.
It was in a great location with a fabulous view of the loch. Our room was nicely appointed and though didn’t have a view from the window ,the room was very quiet and comfortable. Restaurant was nice with a good selection of choices . Breakfast was delicious and included. Off street parking was excellent.

United KingdomThe bedroom was very dark and dingey. It would have been better if there was an additional big lamp. There was a lot of noise from the creaky floor in the room above. The bathroom sink was very small.
Nice location. Very friendly staff who made a real fuss of my dog. Lovely breakfast.

United Kingdom- the welcome was a little cold as we could not check in yet and lunch took a little while until the food arrived - food quality overall could have been a little better but I still ate most of what I ordered
- exterior looks quite grand - our bedroom was enormous with big windows and our bed was at least a king size - view on Loch Linnhe - we played board games in the living room which had a very Scottish charm - highlight for me were the 2 friendly and chatty waiters at dinner, always with a smile - bar staff do a mean Negroni

United StatesRooms were very clean, modern facilities (bath, etc) but no ventilation-stuffy-warm, and we had 2 windows (1 in the bathroom) -faced back of hotel overlooking another roof. Had dinner-my sea bass was very good- husband ordered the ribeye- not good at all he said:(. Felt a bit offended when we “didn’t “ buy a bottle of wine with our dinner-already had drinks which were reasonably priced. Room price on the “high side” for size of room and again temperature of room- perhaps offer fans in the rooms would help. Location is remote- quiet is nice but nothing within walking distance.
It is a beautiful building- lots of history. Location along the water is pretty. Best surprise was the young 16 year old lad who played the bagpipes while we had a beverage overlooking the water outside. Most staff was wonderful!

United KingdomThe staircase and corridors let it down. They are badly needing upgraded. A separate bar area would be better too.
It’s a lovely property and in a good location. The staff were really friendly and the room was really nice too.

I was quite surprised by some of the upgrades. Room locks, bathroom fixtures. The restaurant was the very best of all. I thoroughly enjoyed the courtesy offered to use a nearby hotel's spa.. it was truly a wonderful experience.

GermanyThe staff at the restaurant seemed a bit unorganized, with different persons coming to us with 2 minutes apart asking the same question, or not coming at all. For breakfast, the girl just showed as a table without telling us it's a buffet breakfast and where we can find the food.....I think some younger staff members would need some training.
Beautiful location, with a cozy atmosphere. The room is very clean, especially the bathroom.

United StatesAn elegant and old hotel with a lovely parlor that one can enjoy all day. The hotel restaurant was fine with friendly and helpful staff. Best of all was the full breakfast buffet and the mussels at dinner. A convenient stop on the way to or from the highlands.

United StatesFor dinner my husband ordered three appetizers rather than a main. They were all brought at once and then the waiter was waiting for him to finish before bringing the mains for the other three of us, so we ended up waiting a long time for our dinners until we asked. My husband was saving some of his appetizers to eat with our main courses. There should have been better communication and understanding. View of the river was loverly from the dining room.
Beautiful hotel in beautiful surroundings! Rooms were very comfortable with comfy bed and lovely bathroom. Loved the charm of the old building but modernized rooms. Dinner was good and the breakfast buffet was excellent. Loved the bagpipe player at sunset on the porch and the opportunity to play golf at the course next door in the morning!

Great location. Our room faced onto the road which was quite busy but not a problem during the night. The hotel was busy but there was a sense of good organisation and well trained staff. Excellent, calm receptionists managing a busy flurry of arrivals. Very good restaurant staff (Callum) who was efficient and just the right balance of friendly and professional
