The restaurant ran out of meat the first night end we were promised they would have it on offer the next night but didn’t. Not sure how a big restaurant like that runs out of meat!

The staff who welcomed us on day 1 for breakfast wasn't up to hospitality standards; took so long to order and lacked a sense of welcoming and smile. Not professional. The taps in the toilet are separate which is a true pain, and that's the case for many old accommodations; surprised how the simplest resolutions aren't put into application! Mattress wasn't the comfiest; needless to say that the beds were two singles and werent made as a double despite the option given on booking.com.

The spot was flawless and optimum access to the town and so many walks around. Quiet night sleep which was a bonus. Great parking place and amazing amenities surrounded the hotel itself which was great and made it worth the price.

Wouldn't stop us from staying again but bathroom ceiling had some paper coming down. It didn't bother us at all, and would definitely stay again.

Fantastic location in Grasmere, staff were very friendly and accommodating upon arrival. Breakfast was lovely! Booked because it was dog friendly.

One of the best options for a stay in the Lake District

As in the Lake District as a whole, the bus is a convenient way to get around, but it is a bit of a pain if you have more than one suitcase. If you are prepared to take a taxi to get around with your suitcase, it will take a long time even if you ask a hotel to call you a taxi, due to the number of taxis and the areas they are in operation. There are taxi ranks in front of major railway stations, but it depends on luck whether you get a car that will accept a long-distance ride. Uber also has a small number of vehicles, so it is not easy to call them. Of course, this is not about hotels, but about what to look out for when travelling in the Lake District.

We stayed for four nights. The stay, it was truly an experience of staying in Grasmere in honour of Wordsworth. We had no complaints about the food. Jams and marmalades at breakfast were Tiptree, which was nice. The building is old and a bit difficult to move around with luggage and the floors creak in places, but not a major problem for our stay.

We're not dog owners! But, as long as the dogs don't start barking and the owners don't start shouting we can live with them if they're on a lead!

The initial cleaning of the bathroom was disappointing but has been cleaned well by whoever cleaned it on Saturday- thank you.

Our suite was spacious and unexpected. It was very comfortable and had everything you would hope to find in a hotel room. It had a great view as requested on booking. Breakfasts were very good as there was a wide choice of breakfast meals available and the service was excellent. Dinners were good too. The staff were excellent throughout our stay.
