Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWith the bedside lamps we assumed that there were three pin plug points for my CPAP machine. They turned out to not be three pin sockets and I had to trek out to the car park to bring in my extension cable, that I nearly fell over going to the toilet in the night, and got drenched in the pouring rain doing so!! Minor gripes at breakfast. No granulated sugar for the cornflakes and we were not offered toast.
The hotel was very likeable and we stayed in one of the annexes. The room was large and well proportioned. The evening meal was very good as was the breakfast. Staff were very friendly and were helpful. Really lovely venue.

United KingdomA light bulb in room 307 needed replacing, the basin plug did not seal, and more importantly, there was not a plug socket near to the electric kettle. I put it on the floor near a plug, which is dangerous to lift when the kettle boils. I reported this to the receptionist who wrote these issues down. I have every faith that they will be rectified. We did not know that the bedroom was reached by accessing the path outside. If we had known we would have requested a room inside the main hotel. The rain made it worse. None of this will prevent us from returning and recommending this beautiful historic hotel. Many thanks to the staff.
It was a very comfortable bed, and spacious room. There was an excellent choice of meals in the evening. Breakfast was superb, with a great variety and well cooked food to order. Pear Tree Close where the bedroom was, was peaceful. Do ask for the leaflets on the history of the hotel. Staff were welcoming. We will return.

United KingdomI was unable to control the heating in the room (I prefer a cool/cold room when I'm asleep) so I was very hot. My husband tried opening the small window, but we couldn't open the windows fully, and that didn't really help keep the room cool so I had a really bad's nights' sleep. This was disappointing as I was really looking forward to a restful night. Directions to the hotel car park could have been much, much clearer. We ended up at a car park down the hill, which was muddy and a fair distance with our bags and nice shoes. We realised this couldn't be right and had to drive into the hotel drop-off area to ask. Beautiful, unique wood panelling and floors which are not being properly maintained and looked after, which was heartbreaking to see.
The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. We had a nice view over the lawn at the back of the property. Lovely dinner in the restaurant - the food was delicious, my compliments to the chef - although marred by the late arrival of our wine to go with our main meal because the bar was very busy. I had to get up from the table to find out was happening, which impacted my enjoyment of the meal. Very pretty building and the gardens are lovely (even in February). We were celebrating a significant anniversary and I was hoping for something a bit special. While it was a nice enough stay, it wasn't exceptional and I would be very unlikely to stay again.

United KingdomStarters and desserts were amazing. Main courses were more pub like, didn't expect fish and chips on the menu. Little things, like couldn't turn off heating in the bedroom, tiny bedside glasses, espresso coffee in a big cup.
Lovely room with large bed. Wonderful building and gardens. Good to have a restaurant and cocktail bar.

United KingdomBreakfast was good but we were not brought toast automatically without asking for it. The yoghurt was very good but would have liked a fruit compote to add to it, just as an enhancement.
Room was very clean and kept clean, spacious and was pleased to have a bath rather than just a shower. Bed was very comfortable. Facilities for tea, coffee etc kept topped up with biscuits. Good cooked breakfast. Very helpful and friendly staff.

United KingdomBedroom too hot People on Zoom calls in the lounge in the afternoon, not very relaxing /peaceful for the rest of us.
Breakfast was fantastic, dinner was good. The room was fine but radiator could not be turned off and room was too hot, so had to open both windows and the rain and wind came in overnight and blind flapped around - so not ideal. Room backed onto a parking area so cars arriving around 6am quite disturbing. Lovely Molton Brown toiletries
