The Peacock room was as expected, we did the virtual tour on the website which was a great touch to see the pub & different rooms. The food was great, good portions. Breakfast lots of options. Macy served us on our 1st night & was really friendly & helpful. The room was clean, comfortable & had all we needed. Had such character & charm. Would definitely stay there again, such a gem.

There was a huge 60th birthday party going on downstairs. Staff made it clear that we were invited down, and it sounded really fun … we both said we would’ve loved the party had we been celebrating friends. But we had driven six hours and needed to relax. The floor was vibrating, we could hear every word of the songs; the conversations of people downstairs, and we couldn’t just relax and enjoy the weekend as a couple who were away for the weekend to relax and enjoy our downtime together. We couldn’t even hear the tv. It was a major bummer.

The staff was really friendly and welcoming. The room was cute. it was close to Brighton, and we were meeting family for the day.

The access with car is tricky at a narrow piece of road. As advertised, guests are given priority at the parking area. The problem is when you get to the hotel after nightfall and have to find alternative temporary parking and then go in and request that somebody must l my ice their vehicle for your benefit. Alternative parking is hard to come by. We had to negotiate with a garage owner across the road. Some tricky maneuvering in the dark. Plus. The access from the parking through the back up to the rooms can best be described as grotty. Not a welcoming sight or smell. Our room (probably the smallest) was clean. If you bring 2 suitcases space will be an issue. Attached photo shows view from the room.

Breakfast was very good. They normal start breakfast at 9, which is late if you have a busy itinerary. But the staff kindly agreed to serve our breakfast at 8 instead. And the breakfast was tasty and plentiful. Much appreciated.

Parking was not ideal. We parked just down the road so a bit of a walk but it was worth it!

A most excellent welcome was followed by a lovely lunch and easy check in. The room was beautifully decorated and I slept really well in the comfy bed. Breakfast the next morning was outstanding. I'd highly recommend this place.

Be careful if you re over 6ft as you’ll have to duck your head in the shower in this room. It’s an old building so obviously this affects the height in some areas. You have to duck your head to get into the stairway. Still a lovely hotel though. Would go again. Would maybe try the king size room.

Lovely decor and very clean. Very friendly staff. We had a wedding to go to early the next day and staff were so accommodating with giving us our breakfast earlier than usual. We couldn’t thank them enough! Fab customer service. It really makes all the difference. English breakfast was massive! Thank you so much for making our stay so great!

There was nothing not to like.

We were 2 couples staying at the Horse Inn Hurst as attending a wedding nearby. Location was perfect. Staff (sorry I didn't get names) went the extra mile, organised taxis, checked on us as had not arrived at arranged time and rearranged taxis. Returned for a nightcap, was a super pub to relax with a drink. Rooms were superb with all we needed and breakfast was fabulous.

A lovely pub, the two men who looked after us (food, bar and showed us around) were great. Very helpful, welcoming and attentive. Even though rooms were above the pub, the noise was minimal and ended at a very reasonable time.

Not all rooms were ready as property did not realised I had booked just before arriving. One room has all the tea, coffee, biscuits etx and the other had nothing. Breakfast was very late 9-10am so had to ask for something else which they tried to accommodate.

    Location was good.

A tiny comment would be that the baths when used as a shower could do with ant slip mats.

The included breakfast was one of the best and most generous we’ve ever had.

Avoid - Curtain between toilet & bed!

The room was the worst. As you enter the room you are treated by the sight if the toilet! Yes the toilet is by the room door. Then there is a partial curtain that separates you from the bedroom to the toilet. You can hear and smell the sights if your partner. We left after one night. when reaching out to owner she said “you were nice to my staff so assumed everything ok”. No response after I started “please do not take my politeness as acceptance of the inadequate state of the room”. Unless you are really close with your partner, avoid.

The local is in a lovely village with a few shops and pubs. The working staff were lovely, evening and breakfast.

The evening meal was very average. There were only 3 couples for Sunday morning breakfast and yet 2 / 5 items on the menu were unavailable. How can you run out of ham and cheese? No car park, but parking on the main road was available The bedroom was fine, but the bed was creaky. The stairs were poorly lit.

A genuinely old pub with good decor
