Not a criticism but an observation. The card room key only worked on the 3rd attempt!!! This happened on every occasion that we returned to the room

Lovely friendly welcome on arrival. The decoration had been done very tastefully. Everywhere looked spotlessly clean. Our room was cosy with a huge en-suite which had both a shower and bath along with 2 sinks. Very comfortable bed, large TV and also a coffee machine. Dinner was delicious. There was lots of choice on the menu and I was very impressed with how my allergies were dealt with. Breakfast was good, served very hot. My only criticism would be that a nice bowl of fresh fruit salad would have been nice.

A lovely place to stay - this is our second visit. The bedrooms are comfortable and well appointed and, in particular, there is a ground floor bedroom which suited our party very well, as one of us has mobility issues. The food was also good - we had an evening meal as well as breakfast and both were lovely, with a good number of choices. The staff, however, do need special mention - they were excellent - without exception they were friendly, helpful and willing to ‘go the extra mile’ to make our stay a success. It was a real pleasure to stay at The Wheatsheaf.

We were very hot at bedtime so initially slept on top of the bedclothes. It was a toss up whether to shut the windows and swelter, or leave windows open and get disturbed by noise. The latter won and the noise was negligible.. Later on it was colder and the bedclothes came into use.

I had the full Wheatsheaf breakfast which set me up for the day, I only had a drink at lunchtime. The restaurant decor was interesting. Dinner the previous night was good as well. t

I’m a very light sleeper and even though my room faced the courtyard I had to wear ear plugs for most of the night but the room was dark and cool which was perfect.

I stayed in room 3 which was modern, clean and had everything I needed including a large wet room. The staff were amazing! Special thanks to Amy who helped zip and unzip my dress for a friend’s wedding. The food was also delicious! I had sausage and mash room service and a full English breakfast before I checked out. Would definitely recommend

Great location in the centre of town. The room was very clean and modern with a very comfy bed. Breakfast was lovely. We sat outside on the terrace for cocktails which were amazing. The staff were so friendly and helpful, we had a really great stay.

The room was a little bit warm for us, but it definitely wouldn’t stop us staying there again.

The room was lovely. The food was excellent- I think it was the best roast beef I’ve ever had. Every member of staff we spoke to was extremely pleasant and helpful.

Everything was perfect - the standout for me was the staff and how incredibly well they work as a team. They deserve all the credit. It wouldn't be as good without the staff they have. Property is very comfortable however the staff made my stay 10 out of 10. please look after these amazing staff members. They deserve pay rises and bonus based on excellent performance. I will back soon and would highly recommend to others. I normally stay in large brand type hotels however this property the way better.

The parking was limited at busy times.. Also both windows in room 16 was open at the top but unable to close them, this resulted in quite a lot of traffic noise during the night...
