Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Everything! The ambience of this superb annex, excellent facilities for self catering, quiet location and close proximity to the centre of Harrogate-not to mention the friendly warm welcome one receives from the hostess. This place is our recommendation for every traveller who wants to have excellent self catering accommodation close to Harrogate.

United KingdomWe were met by Kate on arrival and shown around the property. The apartment was lovely and had everything we needed. We had friend coming to dinner on Sat night and Kate provided extra plates etc & set up the BBQ. Kate & Andy were both there on the last morning to check if everything had been ok.

United KingdomThe jackdaws make a racket in the early morning but only for five minutes or so. Kate has thoughtfully provided earplugs if you need them. The skylights in the bedroom do not have blinds so if you are prone to waking with the light then it is advisable to take an eye cover so you can sleep though.
The property was really clean and cosy. I loved the blue and purple theme inside and also the large shower area. There were chocolates, milk, orange juice and fresh flowers waiting for us on arrival. The host, Kate, lives next door and she is so friendly and welcoming. She gave us tips on where to park for visiting Harrogate, Knaresborough and Ripon. She has two friendly cats which I adored as we were missing our boy. The cats are not allowed in the barn but we could fuss them in the courtyard. The barn is in the countryside just a forty minute walk to Harrogate town centre and a short walk to RHS Harlow Carr garden. Swallows swoop around the barn and there are sheep and hares in the fields.

United KingdomNothing that could be changed, jackdaws were nesting nearby and were very noisy from first light. Short term problem and didn't detract from our stay too much.
Lovely location and nice little treats. Beautiful, peaceful setting.

United KingdomNo Wi-Fi signal. Bit disappointed when reading reviews that other guests were honoured with a bottle of Prosecco but we weren’t especially as celebrating my big 0 birthday! Dead batteries in dvd player.
Even bigger and prettier than photos. Host Kate was so lovely and welcoming. Lots of wonderful touches- nice welcome pack including chocolate and fresh flowers. Very clean. Smith”s Arms nearby was great for evening meals. Great location for touring.

United KingdomThis is a special place, but a little harder to find, partly because the Satnav information isn't accurate. If possible, in addition to the directions given, it would be helpful to have some kind of indication that we were in the right place at the end of the little road leading to the Barn. Many thanks!
The Threshing Barn is a wonderful place to stay and certainly has the wow factor! We felt very welcome and enjoyed the generous treats and thoughtful extras. Kate was lovely and made sure we were comfortable. We enjoyed the peace and the view across the field. The location is conveniently near Harlow Carr Gardens and not far from Harrogate. We hope to return to The Threshing Barn. Highly recommended!

United KingdomI would liked to have seen perhaps a couple of handles in the shower, just for extra support when showering.
I had a wonderful stay at The Threshing Barn, lovely hosts and all the facilities included met my needs. Location was ideal for spending the day in town. Would definitely stay again.

United KingdomNothing to dislike at all our only complaint would be that the WIFI signal was poor I realise that wouldn't be an issue for most people but if you need to do some work or watch Netflix etc then this would probably bother you. Perhaps another router in the barn or a booster may help.
Loved the barn and the location was great so peaceful. Decor and extra little touches by host were appreciated. It was a really cosy comfortable property, exceptionally clean and warm. Excellent parking under cover and ample space.

United KingdomIf I had to be super critical, and I really am picking fine hairs; I would’ve liked a window I could open in the bedroom. However, that in no way, detracted from my stay. The property is a converted barn, so you can’t really reach a window in the rafters!
This property ticked all my boxes. Peaceful location. Friendly owner. A short drive into Harrogate. Scrupulously clean. Comfortable bed. Wonderful shower. Everything you would need to make this home away from home, with lots of thoughtful touches. I loved, loved, loved this property, and I’m so glad I discovered it. I’ll be back again at the earliest opportunity.

United KingdomThe lighting in the kitchen and dining area could be brighter. The bathroom mirror is too high. The Wifi signal was a bit weak.
Lots of nice touches, e.g. flowers and cream cakes from Bettys on arrival, tea, coffee, milk, fruit juice, chocolates and DVDs. We were greeted and welcomed on arrival. Kate and Andrew were friendly and helpful and spoke to us frequently without intrusion. The bed was kingsize and comfortable.. The fridge had a separate small freezer compartment. It was secluded with tables and chairs for use outside, both at the back or the front of the property.
