The hotel is a wonderful historic building, so there was no double glazing in the bedroom. A plane going over at 4am woke me up, but I did expect that as the place is so handy for the airport, our reason for staying.

Friendly efficient staff and a great location for Stansted Airport via the back roads. Tasty good value food and fresh plentiful breakfast. Will definitely go back to this pretty village/town.

Room over the bar was a bit noisy and the pub is a bit short on parking but those two really minor issues aside, really nothing to not like 😁

Parking can sometimes bit a little tricky as car park isn’t huge but we managed! Toilet a bit noisy and you could smell the drains sometimes (just little niggles to be honest)

Toilet air con can be heard through all the rooms in the outdoor block and runs for ages every time someone goes to the bathroom through the night.

Our room was situated above the bar so quite noisy until closing time.

Good sized room, comfy bed, very clean. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Public areas were very pleasant. Food was good with generous portions with vegetarian options. Breakfasts were fine with a variety of choices available. Good location for exploring the area.

We only found The Swan after looking for somewhere near Stansted to stay after arriving back from our holiday,what a great find...the pub was warm and welcoming ! The Receptionist Tiff was so accomadating and friendly. She went out of her way to make sure we were fed & watered after a late arrival...You really deserve a Big Thanks !! We found all the staff fantastic even though we only stayed overnight. As it was after ten at night the parking spaces had all been taken by other residents, so Tiff had a word with the chef who had finished his shift & the chef very kindly moved his car so we could park up...thank you ! The Room was a good size, clean & nicely furnished, the bed was really comfy. Breakfast was varied and fresh,cooked breakfast was also cooked to to order...delicious 😋 We shall return if needed for sure Thanks team you made 2 weary travellers very comfortable!!

In addition we had booked a dinner table for the Friday evening for family (the table upstairs). We booked this in person, and checked up in person that it would be available. However when we got there at 7.30 on Friday 24th Jan the table had not been reserved for us. This is incredibly disappointing and puts off local customers. Very sad.

Room refurb is great - we have used this place before for family as we live across the road. However, the room key fobs did not work at night so 3 couples were locked out. The on call member of staff did not respond to the calls. Our 4th member of the family had to get dressed and come down to let them in. This was not good.

The room was very cold and I had to turn on the radiator, as it was off. The room never got warm during the night. The room was a bit noisy too from people walking in the corridor.

Kind staff and very good location if you want to be close to the airport. Check in and check out very easy for early hours travellers.
