Only downside was ot was too far to walk to town for us. But didn't matter for this stay.

Beautiful decor in spacious bedroom and dinky bathroom. Huge bed, quite firm. Personally I would of liked a mattress topper. Feather duvet and pillows. Great English local pub in local neighbourhood. Good selection for continental breakfast in help yourself shared kitchen. Catered for gluten free, soya milk etc. We had room 1 facing the road so could hear cars passing. If you are a light sleeper I'd suggest ear plugs for this and kitchen noise. Good communications and nice welcome. Great value for money in a homely environment, so much nicer than a large anonymous chain.

    There is nothing to dislike

From our arrival and meeting Steve the boss we were really impressed. A cheery friendly greeting, a thorough explanation of the facilities and how the key codes work and then shown to our spotlessly clean room, complete with Beany Bear, our two night stay was exceptional. The breakfast is help yourself buffet style but the kitchen is well equipped with cereals, breads, jams, croissants and even eggs plus you are free to bring your own food in to cook, we had bacon rolls. The pub staff, and customers were also very friendly and made us feel welcome. Steve has everything under control and never seems to stop working. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay and we would definitely return

Parking was difficult at first, but later on in the evening we were able to move our car alongside the venue. This is not something the host can fix but he was helpful in informing us when to expect parking spaces on the street becoming available.

At this B& B a light breakfast was available in a separate kitchen, which you made for yourself. You were able to eat it there or take to your room. There was a good variety of cereal, croissants, bread and types of milk. Eggs were also available. Anyone staying for more than one night can use facilities to make their own meal or use the crockery and cutlery if getting a take away. On arrival our host made us feel very welcome and explained everything to us . We were most impressed with the cleanliness of both our bedroom and its ensuite.

My mother and I had a fabulous stay at the Sutherland Arms. The landlord was fantastic, very friendly and helpful. The bar staff were also very friendly and welcoming. The room was really lovely and the bed was very comfortable. There is a communal kitchen which was fully equipped with everything you need to make a hearty continental breakfast. I have a dairy allergy and this was also catered for. Don’t be put off by the location, it’s an absolute gem for an overnight stay.

My room was above the smokers' area which meant that some smoke smells did get into the room. Otherwise no problems at all.

Very clean and well-appointed room. Convenient location for M6 and for local shops, bars etc. Friendly pub downstairs serving good beer (and other drinks). Kitchen for sole use of guests with great facilities and food for "self-serve" breakfast (plus you can prepare your own food here too). Steve, the manager, was exceptionally helpful: thorough explanation of safety precautions; access; local food and drink places.

Everything was great to be honest.

Excellent location, close to town and the factory shops if you are a crockery lover! Really lovely hosts/landlord. Room one of the cleanest I've ever stayed in. If you're there on a Sunday, book the Sunday roast - it was delicious and really reasonably priced.

Everything was just about right, even the blackout curtains. Trust me, it makes all the difference. It's too bright early in most hotel rooms.

It was one of the most comfortable places we stayed at in our month-long trip. Steve and Polly are great hosts. There's a kitchen and washing machine on the premises. Although the accommodation is on top of a pub, we didn't hear any noise at all. There's a nice Japanese restaurant, Miso and a pottery factory outlet on the same street.

Nobody was there during check out, so we just left accordingly at the 10am check out time. This was only slightly disappointing because we wanted to inquire about booking again.

Check in was easy and friendly. The room was immaculate and cozy with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The mounted TV provided a fire stick and was a reasonable size. The bed was comfy and fresh. The bathroom was incredibly clean and spacious. The noise levels were not bad at all considering it was connected to a local pub. We stayed from Monday to Wednesday and it was absolutely silent from 10pm, which was perfect. There is a communal kitchen with a fridge, dishwasher, cutlery and even complimentary cereal. The pub provided a menu for a local cafe down the street which offered a discounted breakfast to all guests. The actual pub also had a cozy, warm atmosphere and my boyfriend and I will definitely be staying here again.

Really lovely hosts. The landlord was really friendly and helpful with questions we had, such as food places and local taxi companies. You could really tell he cared about the experience we had. The room was also great, and really comfortable. We also had a lovely selection of tea and coffee. Really can't recommend enough!
