Good facilities, well thought out and appointed

The 3 blinds on the one big window in the bedroom let in the light - not sure why they would have chosen to do 3 instead of one, but I would eyelet them down the inside sides and thread them together with rope, this would definitely help. The linen was great but the pillows weren’t. I could tell everything was well thought out but there was no toilet roll holder which was mystifying and inconvenient, as well as no shelf in the shower for all your shower stuff, which was also tricky as the top was too narrow for anything and reaching to the floor was the only option.

The property was beautiful, in a lovely location, with a really pretty garden. The decor was very nice - tastefully and artistically done & the bed was very comfortable. It was also very clean and tidy.

The 2 easy chairs in the room were a little low for us "older" folk but we would still visit again.

We stayed in the Upstairs studio & had a great break. Situated in a lovely village up a very quiet lane it's perfect for a quiet getaway, the only sounds we could hear were the birds singing! Upstairs is a studio with well thought out accommodation including a beautiful shower room. A short drive into Hereford and near to many places of interest plus beautiful scenery. Lin & Martin are lovely people & made us feel very welcome with Martin giving us tips on places to visit. Recommended for a really chilled out break.

A tea strainer and/or cafetiere would have been useful

Good location, in the country but close enough to Hereford to pop in and out. Within easy distance of many great walking areas, and with a few walks from the front door. Easy enough to find if you follow the directions and signs! Although the cottages are approached via an unmade road, it is well maintained - no potholes. Parking is provided almost by the front door. We were upgraded (at no extra cost) to the one-bedroom cottage, as some work was going on in the field next to the studio that we had booked. The cottage was just right for our needs as a couple - each of the rooms, bed, bath, and kitchen/diner/lounge was spacious enough. All the furniture and fittings, including the kitchen, were good quality and perfectly maintained and clean. Particular note for the amount of storage and hanging space in the bedroom. We cooked most of our meals in the cottage, and found the kitchen well-equipped for this. It was also nice to be able to sit out in the lovely garden. There were also lovely views of the gardens from the lounge, and apart from plenty of birdsong it was a very peaceful setting. We met Lin and Martin a couple of times, and found them friendly and helpful. They had provided plenty of information about local attractions etc, although sadly one or two of the eateries listed had recently closed. We would certainly return to the Steppes if we are in the area again.

We wish we had booked for an extra night or two to enjoy the property and lovely area it is situated in. There was nothing to dislike.

The beautiful surroundings and stunning main building were a great first impression, the lodge itself was cozy and a perfect size for us.

A fan to aid air circulation would be a useful addition in warmer weather.

The outlook onto the garden is lovely and quiet. There is a great local pub 10 minutes walk away that serves good food. Parking is onsite.

Everything was great. Maybe having liquid soap instead of sanitser the bathroom and kitchen sinks would be better as we couldn't wash our hands properly with that. But that's such a minor thing

The studio was very clean and had everything for self catering. They fulfilled a request so beautifully, I'd asked for a local baked cake but Lin baked a delicious cake for my husbands birthday. Martin and Lin are great hosts. Its a great location 10 mins drive from town. Its peaceful surroundings and no noise in the mornings to wake upto. Parking on site

Bedside lights were a bit iffy.

Well designed for a studio property. Good quality fixtures and fittings throughout. Well stocked crockery cupboard. Easy parking.

Appreciate we are currently experiencing extreme temperatures, but a fan or small air con unit would have been appreciated as we had a very restless nights sleep the first night due to it being very stuffy/hot in the property. It was nice to have tea provided, but maybe a few more tea bags as only 4 in the pot, but we did enjoy the extra treat of the shortbread biscuits, thank you 😃

These are purely personal preferences! We were there when it was exceptionally hot so a fan would have been handy. Not to keen on the unshaded slotted window so was woken around 5 am (21 June !!)

We were given incorrect pin to access the flat lock. Fortunately the owners were still awake when we arrived with friends staying in other cottage. Felt that gate at top of stairs would have made flat safer.
