Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandIt is not about what we didnt like, but small hints.. there was a small problem with door (they were slightly moving each time someone in the hotel was opening or closing their door..and with leaking stopper during perfect bath. And it would be helpful if widows would not be so hard to open or shut. But these are just details.
One of the best we stayed in the last few years. Amazing design of the room and lights, very comfortable bed (!!!), bed linen and toileters (such nice smell). Nice bathroom and view from the windows. Small fridge and everything that we needed. This was almost perfect stay.. Too short and just few small things.

ChinaAmazing location with a fantastic view of the harbour and of Instow opposite. Beautifully decorated, clean rooms with really comfortable beds and lovely additions including proper coffee and biscuits, lovely scented bathroom products, and additional snacks available for a small fee. Attached to a lovely pub with really friendly staff, and a great quiz every Sunday! Would return to stay here every time. We loved it.

United KingdomOn the Tuesday evening I arrived at around 6pm. I had already booked a meal through yourselves for 7.30pm. I was hungry after a 3 hour direct journey with a stop off at relatives. I was offered a meal with them but abstained because I had booked at The Seagate. Having stayed before I was looking forward to a good selection on the menu. However, they had sold out most of the food on the menu and each choice I made they hadn't available. The only choice was Steak which I went ahead and ordered. When it arrived it was more well done than I wanted and I found a large grain of fat running through the middle of the steak. This was a very disappointing start and prevented me from having an evening meal for the rest of my stay. The Staff member did explain that they had been unusually busy that lunchtime, but I still felt that a food allowance should have been saved for the evening sitting. Breakfast and accommodation was excellent and would not prevent me from booking the Hotel again. However, in future, I will phone ahead and make sure there is a full menu for an evening meal booking.
Breakfast was excellent every day with plenty of choice and Staff attention was also excellent

United KingdomBooking .com site said this hotel has no parking which was not true they have a small car park for guests of 9 spaces. We purchased a tourist permit for £40 online before we left home which entitled us to park in any Torridge council car park for 7 days, which is great if your visiting different places however we just wanted to park up for our 3 night stay and explore the area by foot. the Quay car perk is 5o meters from the Seagate and we noticed on the payment machine that if you only stayed in that car park it was £25 for the week, there was also free on street parking although this was normally full however at 9am in the morning there seemed plenty of spaces. When we visit again I would try the hotel car park and street and if all full I would pay for 1 hour on the payment machine in the Quay car park and keep an eye out for the free parking. Booking.com needs to get it's facts right and maybe best to book direct with the hotel to get the correct information.
Full english breakfast saw us through to the evening, it was excellent.

United KingdomThe room was so comfortable. The extra touches like the basket of snacks were very welcomed. My room had a coffee machine, a fridge, and an electric fire for the winter months. The TV had access to Netflix and Amazon Prime, and the bathroom had an amazing shower and a lovely deep bath. It was all very clean and in a great location.

AustraliaParking near the property was hit and miss because locals obviously have to park their own cars. In the council car park across the road you were guaranteed parking but you had to pay for it!
It was modern and fresh and in a scenic location. The view was looking over the sandy beaches of Instow during the day and at night the reflections on the water was stunning with the twinkling lights lit up!
