Parking could be tricky at times due to the popularity of the area. Not having a garden could put some people off but the bench at the front was handy and encouraged interaction with all passers by!

A wonderful location set in an idyllic village with superb facilities , views and access to the Dales.

The little touches made the cottage perfect. The shower was amazing and we really appreciated the teas and coffees as a welcome. The location is perfect and the beds were amazing.

    Nothing.

Hosts left tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuit along with milk in fridge. The heating was good and easy to control, great being able to boost it when needed. Lots of clear information in cottage on how to use all appliances. Shower was amazing with pre-heat function and the towels were amazing. Such a lovely little cottage, will definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area. Thank you

There’s nothing I would say I didn’t like. Just a few things to bear in mind. Parking can be hit or miss but honestly once you’re parked you’ll be fine. You haven’t got a long walk, maybe a few extra yards If you can’t park right out front. Lastly If there was any possibility of a washing machine it would be amazing, I know the space is quite limited in the kitchen but having that as a back up (especially after muddy walks) would be great.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Roost. Ruth and Stu have literally thought of everything, we arrived to complementary tea and coffee in the kitchen, as well as milk. It may seem like little things but this attention to detail really makes you feel right at home. The house is gorgeous, spotlessly clean and very cosy and homely, exactly what you need after a long day of walking. Speaking of walking, the location is a walkers paradise. Walk out the door and you have public footpaths everywhere. 3 great local pubs with fresh, locally sourced food, a bakery, a local store. You name it you have it. If you want to do things a bit cheaper however there are options to order from Asda/Tesco but we were quite happy to support the local businesses and enjoy really fresh produce everyday. Speaking of the local area, it’s very friendly and welcoming, locals greet you and smile as you walk past and everyone is very polite, sometimes chatty too. We met a lot of lovely folks into our hobby of photography. The Dales are one of the most beautiful places we have ever visited, so perfect to take in or to snapshot onto your camera. We visited the Ribblehead viaduct which is a tremendous feat of engineering and beauty, as well as Ingleton falls which was a brilliant walk and full of stunning waterfalls. I honestly believe this is one of the nicest experiences I’ve had travelling the UK and I have stayed a lot of places. And for the price you are getting a lot for your money. Finally I would like to thank Ruth and Stu again for such a lovely time, they have personally contacted me to say thank you for staying and leaving such kind feedback. They are honest and kind property owners who clearly have a passion for insuring guests have a wonderful stay. 10/10 we can’t wait to stay again!

    Nothing

Ruth’s and Stu’s cottage ‘The Roost’ is welcoming, cosy and you want for nothing! Askrigg and the cottage are the perfect starting point to explore the Dales (and even the Lake District, if you don’t mind the drive)! Inside the cottage, the living room was comfy, the bathroom quite spacious with a bath and a separate Mira shower, which was amazing, and the bed in the main bedroom was also very comfortable! The kitchen is small, but perfectly equipped! They really have thought of everything! We will definitely be back!

This would be cramped accommodation for 4 people. Eg difficult to get 4 people round the small circular dining table. Poor lighting in main living room. Ceiling beams rather low. Settees not very comfortable. Double bed was small and after the first night we moved to the two single beds in the other room. Note, we are not fat, 10 and 12 stone respectively! The parking at Askrigg is on a first come first served basis and a couple of evenings, we found only one space left after driving around - and it's no even school holidays time yet. No milk jug - we used the gravy boat!

Pleasant cottage for 2 to 3 day stay.
