The TV was a bit hit and miss, and although there was a bath in the bathroom, we couldn’t use it as the plug had been disabled. The shower was an overhead one, which made it a little awkward, not impossible, if you didn’t want to wash your hair. That said, it was a good shower.

Our room was one of the outside chalets. It was very comfortable, clean and peaceful.

We received a warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble to ensure that our stay was comfortable and relaxing. Breakfast and evening meals were of a high standard and there were little touches that showed that the room-servicing and provisions were well thought out. We would not hesitate to make a return visit.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like

The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The purpose of our stay was to attend a funeral. Staff allowed us to have a late check out to fit in with the timing of the service. The bedroom was very spacious. Breakfast was very good.

If you want one thing I didn’t like. We were staying with friends and the hotel has two or three different buildings, so they slept in a different building from us. I need to point out that we didn’t book together or request that we all stayed in the same building.

Oh the staff were amazing! They were so helpful and always courteous. They couldn’t do enough for us. The breakfast choice and quality was excellent

Evening service excellent. In the morning not so good. A long wait and I had to ask to be served. Unusual for this pub/hotel. Good staff but under pressure in the morning?

A well run establishment that provides basic accommodation at a reasonable price. I have used this hotel on numerous occasions and what brings me back are the staff. Friendly, professional and attentive.

Nothing to dislike but some feedback is that I think they could have done a more thorough clean as was quite dusty and there were cobwebs - I understand this is hard when rooms are based in an outside block. Shower was tricky to get into as door didn’t fully open and toiletries could have been refilled prior to arrival (they were lovely though). None of these things ruined my stay in the slightest and I would stay here again.

Beautifully located in the countryside, outside rooms are cosy and private. Lots of parking and a short taxi ride from Newcastle Central station. Staff were lovely and pub excellent! Two Yale locks on room for extra security - really nice touch.

We had to change rooms because the shower was too high, nothing to hold onto when you got out it felt unsafe

The only (minor) issue was the creaky floors which were very loud when walked on, so my daughter struggled to settle on the first night. Even so, we would stay again due to the friendly welcome we received.

Staff were super friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean and well equipped, although the bed was on the firm side. The breakfast was excellent and option to eat downstairs for evening meal was a great addition.

I would have rated the hotel higher but the service at breakfast was very slow I had to go to find someone to take my order and it was 35 minutes before it was delivered.
