Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing, location and accomodation was perfect.
Location was great, in the middle of Sale with a lot of options nearby. Olivia and Stephen were great hosts, they communicated prior to and during our stay and made the check-in and check-out experience very easy. The Penthouse has been furnished to the highest standards and you couldn't ask for more.

United KingdomParking tricky. Stairs for those who find them difficult - to access property and different levels of the property. Hefty deposit to cover breakages, damage to property etc,
Parking was free at the back of the building but quite challenging to get into. It was possible to pull up outside the property momentarily to unload/load up the car. Property stylish to a high standard and was well-provisioned with essentials for self-catering. Terrace was welcome to sit and have drinks. Smart TV. Small working area with WI-FI.

United Kingdomhigh £ deposit and photo ID taken on arrival felt very strict and rules everywhere in the property made it feel like we couldn’t relax as much as we’d like. charge £15 to sweep fire ash is excessive, if pan and brush easily available we would have done it ourselves. property has recorded CCTV which wasn’t mentioned when booking and on finding this out we felt uneasy as not mentioned when booking. owner only mentioned after admitting he “looked back on the CCTV footage” after an incident with a chair breaking. we booked on booking.com and paid but on arrival it is advertised in shop window with MUCH cheaper price. Nice apartment but felt ripped off.
location was great for us. facilities good. nice and clean. well presented.

United KingdomThe only downside was that the travel cot provided was broken, fortunately we had taken our own with us for our grandson, apart from that no complaints.
The Penthouse is well located with excellent transport links to central Manchester. Great walks in area, especially along the Canal. The staff who greated us were excellent, the were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. It is very well appointed, was very clean and modern. Would recommend The Penthouse as a place to stay.

United KingdomParking was terrible had to park in the smallest place and very tight spot Deposit was large and too high. Coffee pods where off and the kitchen oven trays are tiny Alot of things to do before leaving. Practically need to spring clean when you pay alot to stay there in the first place. Even have to bin your rubbish down 3 floors on leaving, stripping beds I understand but felt it very unfair for all the things needed
Stunning apartment. Great location for train and pubs etc Comfortable and modern

SwitzerlandTo have to undo the bed and take the rubbish out :) / and everything other thing is at charge: the use the fire place (GBP 15.- + wood log an additional 8.-) and you need to check-in before 5.30pm or you are charged an extra GBP 35.- and even GBP 55.- after 8pm...
the beautiful materials used for the Penthouse, everything inside the apartment, including the furniture, was well chosen and it was just a great place to stay

United KingdomIt's all good!
It's hard to add to what I have said before about this property, other than to reiterate that it is one of the best holiday rentals I have stayed in - and I have stayed in a few. The apartment is stylish and clean, very well-equipped, and the hosts - from the letting agency - are all very friendly and helpful. I have nothing negative to say!

United KingdomYou will need to be able manage stairs and you cannot park directly outside so be prepared for some carrying. The parking is at the back the shops and this apartment above shops is usually accessed from the front but the agent let us through Jets Estate Agents which shortened the walk
Beautifully decorated and well looked after. Cafe next door for breakfast and a selection of restaurants close by. We went Mustard (2doors down) for fabulous burgers. Honesty bar with Wine and Fizz

United KingdomI can't think of anything. I guess if I was forced to, I would say there's no free onsite parking, but I'm usually back to the flat after street parking restrictions finish for the day, and I pay for an hour or two in the morning by mobile app at the same time as I am parking in the evening, so I don't have to wake up early to sort out the payment. Easy.
I always enjoy staying at the Penthouse. Nowadays, when I'm in Sale, I'm there for somewhat sad family reasons. I stay in the Penthouse because I know that it will be immaculately clean, with beautiful, crisp bedlinen on the comfortable bed, and plenty of room for my brother and me not to get under each other's feet. We appreciate the straightforward key collection and check out. And it's nice to have so many great places to eat on the doorstep - or equally, to buy food to eat in the flat, relaxing and watching Netflix. I know I sound over the top, but it genuinely makes a difference to how I feel about going to do the upsetting stuff I have to do.

United Kingdomit’s a stretch to call it a penthouse. it’s a flat above a shop. a number of flights of stairs. car park place is around the back of the shops. uneven surface and you can either walk around the block or take your luggage through the shop. despite many many signs warning us that we had to leave on time, no instructions on heating. it was either freezing cold or boiling hot. a simple manual for the flat would help. there is not a 24 hour concierge (which implies serviced apartments). there is the letting agent downstairs. they can stay late, for a fee. it says there is a fitness centre and pool. there is a local leisure centre. that’s fine - but say that. the write up on booking.com is very imaginative. this is not a block of flats with a penthouse apartment, fitness centre, 24 hour concierge, accessible parking and a lift. it’s a nice flat above a shop.
it’s clean and comfortable.
