Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNo on-site owner just a caretaker. Location is right off of main road so there was road noise at times. Rooms use old style keys which we had difficulty using and had to summon caretaker.
Location was convenient near the crossing to Isle of Skye. Breakfast was average for this type of accommodation. Room was nicely done with window overlooking the bay. Appreciated the in-room water kettle.

United KingdomThe Bathroom door didn't have a catch on the inside, so it couldn't be pulled shut - I had to ask my wife to push it shut for me from the other side. Maybe just a pull clasp on the inside would fix this (the door is a double door - push and click together type arrangement - so a pull handle would be sufficient). Just a thought, not a complaint, be assured. And on the breakfast offering, which is self-serve buffet cold-style, and really nice - with ham and cheese also available to make a toastie for example - there was instant porridge on offer too - but I couldn't find any way to heat the milk, or heat the porridge up once cold milk is added. Again, feedback only, not a complaint - we loved our stay, and will undoubtedly be back again sometime!
The location was handy for our journey. The B&B itself was lovely and clean and tidy. The room was roomy and clean. And whilst the breakfast was just a buffet style cold breakfast, it was self-service, so you could help yourself to as much as you wanted, and was really handy to set us up for our long journey back home that ay too.

AustraliaCould do with warmer blankets, we are from Australia and with the weather being cold and wet we really felt the cold. We had to ask for an extra blanket which was provided.
Great little overnight stop on our travels, we were greeted by the owners who were very friendly and helpful. Location and view was beautiful and breakfast choices were good.

United KingdomNot having any connection with the host; entry was via a keypad. Room although very clean and with a plentiful supply of tea things was very small, with nowhere to sit.
We can't comment on the host because we never met him, but we did meet a very helpful lady; we told her that our shower room had a very unpleasant odour (possibly shower drain blocked). When we returned that evening this was definitely better. We didn't realise this was an Airb&b until talking to other visitors; this makes sense of the buffet style continental breakfast - which was plentiful and good.

United KingdomCode for keybox supplied by Booking.com was incorrect. It failed to open box. Fortumately just before going of duty at 5pm the housekeeper heard us struggling and opened the box with the correct number. She went off for a break shortly after. After checking in we went to Kyleakin for a meal. We returned to find a gentleman from the Netherlands trying to get into his room with the wrong number supplied by Booking.com. He had his elderly Mum and Dad with him and had been trying for two hours to get into his room. He'd tried the hotel next door. It had no vacancies. He'd tried all the Booking.Com numbers supplied with the booking. He'd tried calling all the locally available numbers and was preparing to sleep in his car with his elderly parents. Fortunately for him my wife found one more untried number and when she called the number it went through to the previous owner of the Old Post Office. The respondent said that his number was a South African number and that my wife was lucky he had picked up the call. As a favour he said he would try and call the current owner of the premises on our behalf. After about 20 minutes, the respondent (who wasn't actually in South Africa but had been dining on Skye when my wife's call came in) arrived with the housekeeper. The house keeper then provided the Family from the Netherlands with the correct number for the keybox. This was not the end of the story. It turns out that the room which the Dutch family were finally given had been previously allocated on Air B & B to a couple who were still due to arrive later that night. This was OK for The Old Post Office because they still had a spare room. We noted in past reservations experiences that the central allocations computer does not update immediately and that it is possible to make and pay a booking on Booking.com only to be told 10 mins later that the room has already been taken by someone earlier on Air B & B.
Stunning view from room across the water opposite with views towards the Skye Ridge. However the premises are located on the main A87 trunk road carrying all the heavy lorries rumbling noisily down from Skye and the Western Isles towards Inverness or further south towards Scotland's Central Belt. It's all good if you don't mind the traffic or walking along a main road.

PortugalThey completely forgot about us, didn't send the pin and no-one could be bothered to pick up the phone or reply to messages (through Booking or WhatsApp). They didn't reply to Booking's support either. This unfortunate incident resulted in us having to sleep in the car (thankfully we had a car) because by the time Booking determined they wouldn't reply, there were no hotels open in the Highlands.

Czech RepublicThey absolutely forgot about us and about another couple. We haven’t received PIN code from the locker, so we were trapped and we couldn’t reach anyone. Not by phone, not by email, not by Booking not even by Booking support. This is not acceptable. Breakfast is really bad. Unfortunate stay and I would 100% check different one.

United Kingdom...we were now in the wrong place at the wrong time & our carefully planned itinerary was in shreds. Denise changed our booking at the Britannia Hotel, Newcastle Airport to Thursday & canceled her room, which they were gracious about doing & we aborted the holiday. We dropped the still ailing Denise at Inverness Station on Wednesday morning & she returned to London by train. We returned by car on Thursday, after a satisfactory stay at the Britannia. We have used Booking.com many times & never had a fiasco like this. I entirely blame you for it. It must have been obvious that aborting the stay in Balcamara, & I have had a subsequent e-mail from the bnb but which only reached me when we returned, that cancelling a high-season booking of a tour would place a responsibility on you to find us another hotel & inform The Old Post Office where we had to go, as once on a tour, we are out of contact with you. The idea of just dumping people aged 80, 87 & 42 without a room or two in the middle of nowhere with no roof over their heads should have been unthinkable. Thanks to the kindness of the Strath Carron owner, this did not end in disaster, nor significant extra expense. The lesson for you is that: IF YOU HAVE TO CANCEL SOMEONE'S BOOKING, YOU HAVE TO MOVE HEAVEN & EARTH TO MAKE SURE THEY HAVE SOMEWHERE TO STAY.
We did not get the chance because when we arrived, rather early, we left our Carer, Denise, there as she was not feeling well, to wait for the lads to finish cleaning the rooms. I & my wife went off to drive round Skye, which we did. When we got back 3 hours later, we found a distraught Denise, telling us she had been thrown out of the hotel with her bags, as they said they had re-let our rooms to someone else. Denise went to the Balmacara Hotel next door, known to be full but she told them our circumstance & asked to use their wi-fi to try to find another hotel. This was refused & so was her request to use their toilet. They would not even let her sit there until she had bought a pint. When we returned, i loaded Denise back in the car & set off in the direction we had planned for tomorrow. I tried the Strath Carron Station Hotel. Full, but the owner could not have been more helpful & kind, unlike that collection of oafs in Balmacara. He rang round fruitlessly & then, contacted the Ledgowan Hotel, where we had a booking for Wednesday night. They moved the booking back to Tuesday, although Denise had to have a much posher room but at least we had a roof over our heads for Tuesday. The Ledgowan is first class in every way but...
