The staff weren't well chosen. One member wasn't happy with her lot, didn't want to be there and just wanted to go home, while another member was cheerful, couldn't be more helpful and made you feel good about being there. I gave one a distainful glare and the other a healty tip. More vetting required! The food was good produce, cruelly mistreated by an indifferent chef. I had the £17.50p fish and chips.....beautiful fish that suffered intollerably in the kitchen. The batter was wet and bloated with fat, so much so that I had to drain it by tearing one end of the batter away and wringing the fish out into a napkin. The chips were okay, but nothing special. In saying that, in an effort to be fair, my wife loved her meal of fishcakes and she's not easily pleased.

The location was exceptional, possibly unbeatable. It was a 20 minutes' stunning walk into Salisbury centre and Cathedral. The water that flowed beneath the hotel, and in years gone by, had fed the wheel, now rushes into the mill-pond, swaying the submerged reeds back and forth, somewhat calming and breathtakingly beautiful. Don't miss it!

Missing lightbulb in the bedside lamp. Window would not stay open, had to be propped up. Why they have so many twin rooms because single beds are not so popular. Shower temperature changed suddenly, went very hot for a minute.

The location is fantastic and has great cooked breakfasts. Nice large bathrooms

It is my fault for not checking but I wanted to work when I stayed and it did not have guest wifi so I couldn’t do that.

Traditional and in a very quiet location. The staff were all incredible

The bed was a bit on the small, staff could have been more welcoming and friendly.

Beautiful location by the river. A nice walk along the town path into the city. The restaurant was a lovely room full of character and you can see the river running through the mill building. A good breakfast. Our room was bright and clean with views of the river and fields beyond, with a large bathroom also with a window. It was nice to hear the sound of running water from the river, although earplugs are supplied if needed. :-)

Parking is a challenge for a busy popular pub which overwhelms the rather small car park. We stayed on the top floor, good for quiet, but approached up a very steep and narrow staircase which would be a challenge for the less mobile. Breakfast room was lovely, we opted for smashed avocado on toasted bread, but bread wasn't properly toasted which resulted in a rather stodgy offering.

location is outstanding, with views across the water meadows to Salisbury Cathedral and an easy path to the city. room was comfortable and well equipped. Lovely historic buildings.

The place is understaffed. You have to look around the place to find someone to help you. Most times we found them in the Kitchen area. Booking a table for dinner did not work out. Although booked, they were not ready for us and only one other table in the place had anyone at it. Naturally the one we had booked.

The location is the best thing about this place. Right down a wonderful pathway from the town center overlooking a marsh with tremendous views of the Cathedral

The room was hot because the bathroom radiator was jammed on! But they had a very powerful fan so it was completely bearable.

The location was perfect…a quick 10 minute, flat stroll into town. Beds were spotless and the breakfast was also totally yummy.

Immersion tank in utility room next to my bedroom was faulty and incessant noise through the wall all night. Reported this but was not fixed during my stay and consequently got very little sleep over 2 nights, so expensive stay and not very relaxing break. Asked for a rebate but was denied which was very disappointing.

We were on the second floor , it was a very hot room , so had to have the window open .although there was a net in the window , it attracted lots of bugs , so when we came back one eve , our room was full of gnats and mosquitos , the hotel was unable to help us , which made an uncomfortable night

The location was perfect ,just a 15/20 minute walk into Salisbury The property was beautiful , in an idyllic setting ,

The parking is very limited and we were told that the nearest available parking is a 10 minute walk away. Not ideal when carrying bags. Shame parking isn’t reserved for just guests staying overnight. As the building is old you can hear everything in other rooms that are below or above you. Particularly if people are stomping around their bedroom. I was on the ground floor and the people in the room above were making noise at 2am. They then woke up at 6.15am and created noise until gone 8.30am.

Location and atmosphere were great. The pub garden was lovely. The full English breakfast was excellent. Staff were polite but seemed grumpy.

I had upgraded to a king size room. What we got was a room overlooking outhouses. Thanks to a large chimney breast, we could hear every word of conversation in the pub below, amplified - it felt like we had at least 20 people in the room with us. Small things irritated - no TV remote control, no wifi code. Eventually at 9.45pm we were transferred to the room we could, and should, have had in the first place - quiet and with river view.

Parking easy and the location brilliant. Breakfast and evening meal were good. The bathroom was well-appointed although supplied with minimal toiletries.

We paid quite a lot for our room and expected it to be a luxury room but was very basic for the price. Hotel was nice food was nice, staff were great but very expensive for a standard hotel B&B
