The room needed painting in places and was a little cramp due to layout.

A lovely hotel. Situated right next to Ripon cathederal with onsite parking. Comfortable room. Lovely friendly staff. Amazing dining experience with Adams tasting menu and wine pairing.

The only thing I would suggest is water in the room - and I should have just called down and asked for it, so it was really my fault! But apart from that this was an excellent stay.

The room was wonderfully wonky, Jacobean gloriousness, the bed comfortable and we had a lovely sleep. The bathroom was - again - a little dated, but clean and functional, with a glorious bath and really powerful shower. One thing about the room was a bottle of water would have been nice - that's all I can think of. The breakfast, though, was spectacular. Done like a breakfast taster menu, with all manner of wonderful things to eat, it was by far the most interesting breakfast experience we've ever had, and one of the tastiest breakfasts we've ever enjoyed. Absolutely terrific. Above all the staff were superb, friendly and attentive, with an effortless elegance which never felt cloying or artificial. It's clear they love the place, and have a passion for what they're doing, and from the moment we arrived to the moment we left we felt like honoured guests and part of the family. Couldn't top it.

Nothing really, shame the dinner was only a tasting menu again we couldn't participate due to my eating issues, not the restaurant fault. Car park was full and struggled to park my car.

The hotel was superb, lovely old building felt really comfortable, room was great even the holes and the cracks on the walls added to the charm of the place. Breakfast was really good but unfortunately as I have lots of eating problems couldn't eat all was offered, my wife absolutely loved it all.

Host Chloe and chef Adam were both superb and helped us enjoy truly memorable experience at the old Deanery. The Testing Menu has never been bettered in our experience anywhere. (Michelin stars must surely follow!). The breakfast was equally special with the cordon bleu tasting menu format a first for us for breakfast. Although an expensive treat, it is one that is genuinely very high value for money. The Old Deanery is located right next to the wonderful Ripon Cathedral and it is the perfect base from which to explore Ripon and surrounding area. We will certainly come back!

The bathroom needs a little updating but other than that there was nothing we didn't like.

A super location, very professional and friendly staff. The food was excellent and could not be faulted. We have recommended it to all of our friends.
