Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBed was too soft for my preference, but you can suit everyone.
My second stay at the New Inn... Stayed in the fantastic room 8 which has a little balcony overlooking the main Street. Staff are all lovely, food is very good, even got a free cat at breakfast which I would've happily paid for. A lovely period hotel with bags of charm.

United KingdomThe staff were fabulous and worked very hard. The rooms were lovely. All that is needed is to update public areas. Bar and restaurant. Have to say breakfast was excellent. Overall we had a lovely time.
Beautiful location. We live locally and visit twice a year. First time at the New Inn. It was lovely and the staff tried very hard during a very busy time

United KingdomWe would have liked the menu to have had more specials as the menu stayed the same. Most things had chips and as we were there for 5 days jacket potato or other alternatives would have been great. Salads maybe. Although they did adapt a few meals for us and the meals they did do were excellent. I love the fish pie with a crust top.
Very friendly in a beautiful location with good food

United KingdomWe found no lounge area to relax in there was only food tables everywhere and as a resident you had to sit on damp wooden tables outside
The views are exceptional and it had lovely quaint rooms, lovely decor and the team was very good especially an older male who was constantly clearing tables and asking if you were ok

IrelandI didn’t realise I had no en-suite. Booking.com need to be more specific “budget room with shared bathroom “. The other couple we met had the same issue. Very scattered reception service. None on arrival . Also anyone with mobility issues would not be able to stay here. Property could have told us to take small bag for one night.
Beautiful little town really unusual. We stumbled on a lovely festival on Sunday with plenty of craft stalls and 2 great bands. The weather even stayed good. We were amazed at 5pm when everyone disappeared. The atmosphere in the restaurant and bar was great. Really enjoyed the evening

United KingdomDecor looks a little tired and bath and shower combination a little basic, but this is an old inn in a unique pedestrian only location
Location is fabulous. Facility for transporting luggage down to the car park at the foot of the hill was very welcome

United KingdomThe hotel have squeezed pub tables in what should be a terrace area for the room. With no double glazing, the noise of those sat on those tables felt like they were in our room with us. The noise stopped at 10.30pm. I think we should have been warned about the particular room we had.
Not much accommodation here so we were pleased to get a room.

United KingdomThe hotel and area are beautiful. Just a suggestion. When we checked in we weren't told about the time of breakfast, WiFi, restaurant or bar service or that someone could help with our cases on check out if we left them at reception before 0930. This would have been helpful or if the visitor centre could give more help with this. If I visited again, I would bring a smaller case, as it is quite a distance down the cobbles.
We were given a balcony, which was requested and accommodated. Early check in. Room with ensuite. Lovely bar and restaurant. Nice evening meals in the restaurant with friendly and attentive staff. Central in Clovelly. Comfy bed, excellent night sleep. Free WiFi and Smart TV. Lots to see in the area. Nice walks.

United KingdomJust the lack of en_suites, but it’s an old building.
Lovely clean hotel, although the facilities were basic. Think posh hotel from the 50’s. Bathrooms are at the end of the corridor, not many with en-suite. The bar/restaurant is cosy and the food and ale is good.

United KingdomHotel felt a little like an upmarket hostel catering mostly to walkers (like me) which was fine but for the a me money elsewhere you get en suite facilities etc it’s a captive market but they work hard and do what they do very well.
Lovely building, beautiful location. Great staff. We had dealings with four individual members and they were all very lovely and very competent. Excellent restaurant.
