The hotel is a little dated now and our room and the dining area needed a little work to bring up to standard.

The only criticism we have is the continental breakfast under the new management is a joke yogurt, cereals and fruit does not a continental make ! A continental here used to be sliced meats, boiled eggs, pastries and bread none of this apart from a few pastries on the first morning existed(none the rest of the week) . If you can't provide the goods don't advertise it. Chef was a bit poor at turning up on time and having things ready to go at 7.

our second time at this hotel love its location the view from the room is stunning. Facilities in the hotel are good nice lounge bar, breakfast room is a great space. Parking is the best always spaces available. Staff are kind and helpful especially the ladies in the breakfast room.

Such a beautiful place both inside and out. Staff really friendly and very helpful. Shay and Cam were lovely and couldn't do anymore for you, nothing was too much for either of them. Everywhere was very clean and tidy and felt fresh. Lovely atmosphere day or night. The meals are exceptional and excellent value for money.

Not that I didn’t like it, but we paid for Sea View and we got River View. South Shields means a lot to my Partner so he was. But disappointed.

Drink prices were too expensive and not the best pints for that kind of money. Not enough toilet roll in our bathroom. Had to go ask for more which wasn't a problem.

Location absolutely fabulous. So idyllic and lots to do and see around and about. Staff very friendly. Breakfast really good. Room very comfortable and accommodating

We were disappointed in the restaurant evening fare. We complained about one of our meals and were refunded. The salad on our bar snack was tired and some elements were going over. Curtains didn’t have blackout lining in our room.

Wonderful position. Worth the extra for a river or sea view if stying a few days. Staff very friendly. Clean rooms and public areas. We were there to attend a family funeral which was catered for at the hotel. That food was very fresh and plentiful. It took place in a lovely suite with great views

Always like the location, staff are very friendly, rooms are comfortable and clean. Breakfast is always good. No noise from any party’s on this occasion which I was thankful of.

My first room had a really loud whistle noise from the wind coming in through the window vent. The lady on reception was very helpful and found me another room very quickly.

Rooms were lovely but upgrading needed soon as a little tired.

Very friendly staff who paid attention to our needs, however they were very busy and in my opinion were thin on the ground and needed to rush around. Breakfast was lovely with ample choices and amounts. There was a coach trip staying that did not affect my stay what do ever. Entertainment was provided most ever that was an added bonus. The hotel has the most exceptional location with outstanding views over the river Tyne and piers. I suggest that anyone staying does not book a ground floor room if you want a sea of river view. A lift is available for upstairs rooms.

From booking to visiting everything spot on. Email received regarding other functions whilst visiting. There was a wedding party but it didn't cause any problems for us.It was good seeing everyone enjoying themselves

Breakfast plenty of choice, Only problem was I dont like scrambled eggs,so did without. Finished eating and found out I could have asked for fried eggs. Will know next time I visit. Hash browns best I've ever had.

There was nothing i didn’t like

Everyone on the staff was so helpful and very kind. Nothing was too much trouble. My room was excellent, very spacious, for both me and my labrador. Excellent view of the harbour. I loved the Bingo, it was great fun, very funny! Loved the Karaoke too.

I booked a superior room but when I booked in the room was on the ground floor in which I didn't want and they had no more on the upper floor so had to just take a double room with view The room was fine but it wasn't the one I had booked.......
