Booked a double and got two single bedded room. Asked for a room with a bath as a special request; booking.com replied to us that the accommodation would honour the request. Had 4 automated emails from the hotel saying they only check the requests email once per day, but w3 didn’t get a confirmation about the bath request. On arrival the room only had a small shower with electric shower and very poor water pressure. Really disappointed, wouldn’t return and won’t book again through booking.com

Cleanliness was very poor. Bed linen and towels were stained with hairs in the beds, dust everywhere, shower dirty, cups dirty with hairs on them. We had to sleep on top of duvets as so unclean. Also, the top of the stairs are a death trap. Unacceptable for an inflated price. We were visiting a very poorly family member, and this was a choice based on limited options. Never again, terrible and only glad we didn't decide to have breakfast there. I have posted only a couple of photos as too many.

I was locked out of the Hotel one night even though I had been given the correct key. The lock had been “snibbed”, and because it was 1am there was no one available at the hotel. I’m no locksmith, but surely they need a different type…..ie. a lock that prevents this scenario Thankfully there was a route onto the hotel roof to which in turn allowed me to climb in through the hotel room window (the correct room), but this was via Carnoustie Library roof, and began via a fence with semi-sharp protrusions, so it was a little dangerous. On reflection this wasn’t an ideal way to enter the hotel, especially when there’s an alternative, that involves simply walking through a door.

I liked the fact that downstairs there was a busy bar, which was well decorated and also served food.

Would definitely recommend staying here, the service was second to none, the owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The rooms were clean and the beds very comfortable. The dinner was very good also. Great servings and delicious food 😋

There was a problem with our booking we had paid in full before arrival and had confirmation from the hotel for the Ben Hogan deluxe double but when we arrived our room wasn't available they said because of the hotel booking page not refreshing whatever that means. The room we were given was a family room which was a disappointment shower not properly cleaned and windowsill in bedroom had rubbish and dirt on it curtain tie back was hanging off and towel rail came to bits if you hung more than one towel on it.

Lovely bar and deck area . Food was very good we had an evening meal and breakfast both large portions and tasty. Location was close to the beach and local amenities. Staff were nice and friendly.

I think a few instructions in the room would would help eg how to activate the radiator (it had an electronic thermostat but not clear how to switch it on) and how to use the television. There are soap dispensers in the shower but no soap so these should either be removed or filled. It’s not a high star rated facility so there’s no hairdryer.

Good location with carpark though there are no marked spaces so space is wasted. Room was basic but beds were comfortable and clean and electric shower was easy to use. Sockets are international which is helpful for foreign visitors. Tea and coffee in room (though the milk pod I opened was off so best to check before pouring!!). Staff are helpful.

Never stayed at a pub hotel b4 due 2 circumstances and esp with my dad being disabled I was a bit sceptical we had 2 rooms surprisingly spacious and clean & From Robbie To the Staff 10☆'s , train got cancelled on Sunday , checkout was 10am so was in a bit of pickle with Dad & 3hrs of waiting , we were allowed to checkout when we could was a great gesture from the hotel

was not told wifi password The kettle was very small The window handle has been broken off making it difficult to close the window it was Saturday night and it was never mentioned it was a busy late night pub downstairs. the music and party revellers were very loud until until gone 12:30 am. it seems to be the village nightclub
