Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was nothing we didn’t like, would only say for the price it would have been nice to have breakfast included all be it for one morning only.
Bungalow was spotlessly clean, cosy and comfortable yet spacious, beautifully situated, quiet and peaceful with everything we needed.

United KingdomThe doors to the rooms might be difficult for the elderly as very strongly sprung firedoors (hard to push open).
Room was very nice, great staff, lovely swimming pool, close to the coast, quiet and my room was ready early so I was able to check in on arrival (Thanks!)

United KingdomThere is not much to complain to be honest - the shower probably was the main complaint as it was trickling rather free flowing as a shower should be, but the water was hot.
We loved the many facilities available here - the playground, having private slot for the warm swimming pool, and loved the Sundown Tipi restaurant as well. The food was so fresh and scrummy! The direct access to the cliff top path to the town was a dream with child as no main roads to contend with on the walk down.

United KingdomMy room was next to a staff area and there was a lot of footfall in the early evening but it wasn't really a problem.
Lovely location and grounds and very easy to walk into Cromer. The staff were helpful and friendly and the room was comfortable and well serviced. I ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and the food was amazing. Will stay again.

United KingdomThe food was not as good as it is presented as being. Ravioli was not ravioli, was an odd pasta parcel which was mostly not edible. Cod was way oversaltef, vegetables were limp, undressed and unnecessary. Breakfast salmon was a strange texture and please don’t use olive oil on the muffin, please just have butter
Lovely surroundings. Easy to get to Cromer via woodland walk. Room was clean and comfortable

The pool is great- being able to book private slots. The grounds are really nice, local produce is grown on site and served in the restaurants. Hotel is located an easy walk down to the beach via the Woods. Sundown restaurant was lovely!

United KingdomBathroom was 'dated' and shower over bath cramped with shower head space between grab rail and window limited. Pool changing room & shower could do with being updated.
Room was nice and spacious, light and clean. Pool was lovely, and a good idea to have 'private' use. Gluten free food was available at both lunch and dinner.

United KingdomThe door catch fell off on the walk-in bath on arrival so it couldn't be used that day. Breakfasts were charged at £16, (£2 more than advertised: waiting to hear from hotel about this.) Breakfast 'pie' was totally dried out (reported at the time but still waiting to hear from hotel about this too). Had to find staff to ask for second cup of coffee at breakfast. Two of the main dishes at dinner were lacking flavour; the gravy was extremely salty, Evening meals not wonderful value. The timber on the outside of the Orchard Rooms is in urgent need of a fresh coat of preserver. On arrival we found the pool was already fully booked by other guests for the weekend so we didn't get to use or see it. We shall be happy to amend this review and withdraw the photo of the pie if the hotel resolves our issues with the bill for (14) breakfasts.
We were a family group of 7 in their 70s-90s and enjoyed gathering in and just outside our Orchard Rooms in a quiet corner of the extensive garden. Comfortable rooms, furniture and beds. The staff were friendly and the meals were varied and nicely presented. Good English breakfast. Salmon was excellent. Tasty vegetables.

United KingdomThe bed had a brass bed head which was uncomfortable- even with the pillows provided. The bathroom mirror above the sink wasn’t well lit so I put on my make up on using the other cabinet which meant I had to straddle the loo. Outside room 10 is a fire door but the door closer wasn’t working Properly so when the busy staff were running around in and out of that door at 7am on Sunday morning it banged and banged and disturbed us.
The hotel is an historic house in a beautiful setting about 15 minutes walk from the centre of Cromer. The bedroom was very comfortable with a view of the gardens, the en-suite bathroom was small but perfectly appointed. Everything was clean. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive (but not too much) and helpful and the restaurant was excellent- the menu was reassuringly small, full of locally sourced ingredients. We had dinner on our first night and breakfast on both mornings of our stay. The pool was wonderful. We will definitely go back.
