Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

GuernseyPenthouse suite had solar panels outside and weeds growing. Otherwise great views. The AC seemed temperamental but as it was cold outside, I did not need it. Things like kitchen rolls and washing liquids were not present.

United KingdomBoth bins in our apartment had the previous peoples personal/intimate waste still in them. And both to full for us to put ours into them. We also had been given an upgrade from a skyline view room to a 1 bed apartment, which was beautiful, but we had no view except into the lounge and bedrooms of the apartments across from the hotel. In hindsight, we should have gone back to reception and asked for the room we booked.
The location was perfect, the staff polite and the lounge area on floor 5 was lovely and a treat.

ThailandThe bathroom has no separation (shower enclosures, curtain), resulting in water spreading across the entire floor during showers, with only one drain situated at the shower. When water leaks beyond the drain, it takes longer to dry, creating discomfort when walking and using the toilet.
The bed and pillows are firm and comfortable, the room facilities are well-maintained and clean, and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Good location for a course. Reasonable rate compared to others in the area. Very comfortable cosy room with good sound insulation and air conditioning/heating. Powerful shower. Polite and efficient staff.

United KingdomWe had a great stay at the Gate Hotel. The staff are absolutely amazing - truly next level service. Nothing is too much for them - they are so friendly and helpful. We were able to drop our luggage off in the morning before check-in and leave it after check-out which is so convenient. The room was very modern and clean and had all the amenities that you need, including a super bathroom. The beds were super comfy so we had a restful night after a busy day in London. Highly recommend the Gate!

United Arab EmiratesI had a friend sleep over for a night, and because the bed is really small (150cm) we asked for sofa in living room to be extended to a bed. Once they did it, they had to move sofa a bit around the room to fit, as living area is also really small. When sofa was moved from its original place, the dirt and garbage under it became visible. I am talking food leftovers and toenail cuts. Was disgusting. Thing is, they could have cleaned it before I came back to the room, but they didn't. Still, it's a decent hotel, and you just set expectations of cleanliness lower when traveling to UK. And food, and comfort. For London this is a quite decent hotel.
Location is excellent, walking distance to tube, Old Spitafields market. Breakfast is quite nice, and the lounge on the 5th floor with coffee and tea is great. Rooms are quite small, bed also, but comparing to other city hotels, this one is amazing and large. Good value for money.
