Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe bathroom sink was very small for washing my face in, but this is dictated by the size of the bathroom. Storage is a shelf behind the toilet, so it might be useful to take a toiletries bag that you hang up on the door hook.
Very quiet room. The ability to adjust the heating to suit was very useful. Shower and tap water heated up very quickly - no waiting! Lots of tea, coffee and hot chocolate supplies. Two comfy pillows each. Clean and well thought out with lots of drawer space. Only 2 mins walk from the Tiger Inn for breakfast. Their Sussex cooked breakfast was amazing, with a large plate full of 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, hash brown, tomato, baked beans, mushrooms, black pudding and toast. The scrambled eggs with smoked salmon was also a treat. Breakfast was not included in the room price.

AustriaShame that the attached pub was closed for renovation. Understandable but would have liked to have been informed before our stay as we had planned to have dinner there.
Very cosy place. Good selection of teas on offer. Beautiful surroundings. Easy parking and quiet village.

United KingdomMattress was a little hard - but I mean that’s picking at something that doesn’t need picking at. It was comfy enough for a lovely sleep
Beautiful little cottage - absolute gem of a place and we’ll be coming back in a heartbeat. I wouldn’t recommend it for longer than 2 nights, it’s just a perfect escape for 1-2 days, peaceful and quiet with loads of walking nearby. Everything we needed to switch off from the work and the city; honestly it was just perfect.

United KingdomWhilst the beautiful flint garden wall provides privacy, it would have been nice to see the garden from our room, although I sat on the bench through the arch and enjoyed an early morning coffee looking at the beautiful English country garden and listening to the birds.
Great location with an old English pub, a cafe, hikers rest ( which does a superb nicoise salad) and delicatessen and Thai restaurant around the square. Lovely warm welcoming staff. Perfect for walking to Belle Tout lighthouse, Birling Gap and the Seven Sisters.

United KingdomWhat I did not like: A separate email address is required by the property to get the check-in details and the code to get into your room. I never received it, which made our check-in a tad confusing and is apparently a common issue. This was solved by walking to the Tiger-Inn pub and checking in manually. Overall, I had a comfortable and enjoyable stay at The Garden Room. While there was one issue with the check-in process, the rest of the experience was excellent. I would recommend this room to others.
What I liked: The Garden Room was well located, with only a short walk to the Seven Sisters cliffs. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was quiet. There was a well-stocked selection of high-quality teas, coffees, hot chocolates, and biscuits that were replenished daily. The staff provided a welcome guide to the local area, complete with recommendations and maps. A separate laundry room equipped with dryers, washers, irons, and ironing boards, as well as the detergent and stain removers required to use them, was a welcome surprise and something rarely seen. The breakfast was delicious and up there with some of the best I've had while staying in hotels, inns, and B&Bs. The staff were friendly and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was everything we hoped for. The Wi-Fi speed and range were good, with 39.90 Mbps down and 17 Mbps up.

United KingdomThe room was a bit hot at night in spite of a fan but it was just before the heatwave so presume it is fine in normal summer weather.
I have previously stayed in the rooms at the Tiger Inn so wanted to check out the Garden Room. Great to have a table and chairs outside as the weather was fantastic and I could eat my takeaway breakfast from the nearby cafes. The walled garden is also a lovely place to sit and relax. The fridge in the room was useful for cold drinks. Bed and linen is the same excellent quality as in the rooms in the Inn. The bathroom has a walk in shower which I prefer to a bath. Although closer to the main road than the pub rooms I did not find the traffic noise a problem. Another lovely short stay in East Dean enjoying the scenic walks.

Italyno chance to communicate with the property during the weekend, so it wouldn’t be possible to reach them for 48h before our arrival to get some information. the property is located in a very dark area and there’s no way to reach the room in the evening/night. it would be easier with a simple highlighted sign.
