Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomRestaurant service was a bit pompous. Much preferred the bar menu and would have preferred to eat in there but all their tables were full. A very nice young waitress was very helpful and improved our experience the main restaurant .
Reception staff and porter gave a very good service.

United KingdomNothing much! If anything I’d say it was a little hot in my room and aircon didn’t seem to dow nothing but that’s being picky!
Full of character, very old building, creaky floors, but decorated very tastefully. A very ‘cosy’ place to stay with log burners lit, small bar and lounge area, super breakfast, and very friendly staff

United KingdomHotel is in an excellent situation. The building is old and therefore lots of steps and stairs which my husband would have found difficult to negotiate. We were very kindly offered a ground floor room. The entrance to room could do with some housekeeping. It looked dismal ,leaves over floor and well tread carpet. This was convenient but clearly was not to our mind reserved often .The lighting in room was poor . Just one bedside table (double bed) and one bedside lamp. Bathroom facilities were good and adequate supply of products. Sadly we chose a very quiet time to stay as the first night we were the only people eating in the restaurant so no atmosphere, and the following evening chose to eat in the bar . One other couple eating at same time.Staff very pleasant and helpful .Parking can be difficult as no private parking at hotel. The food was good .

United KingdomWe found the bed a little bit uncomfortable but it was lovely and big. The room itself felt a bit 'tired' - ie the bathroom window was really but its an old hotel and we could see that the outside is having maintenance work done on it. The temperature in the room was perfect, the sheets were clean and crisp, the tv worked and we had water and biscuits. All the things you would expect in a quality hotel.
This hotel is lovely. Its in a fabulous position and its very welcoming. The staff are amazing at this hotel, nothing is too much trouble - they will help with anything. It was a very pleasant check in process with my bags carried to the room. Also the restaurant staff are very polite, helpful and efficient. Again, nothing was too much trouble. We really enjoyed the roast lunch and the breakfast. The hotel is clean and bright and the dining room is particularly nice. Its warm and nicely decorated and eating in there is a very comfortable experience.

United KingdomOur rooms were accessed by an exterior door and via a steep staircase. Whilst the rooms were nice and of a good size, the en-suite bathrooms were very small. We also booked an evening meal in the restaurant and found this overpriced for the quality and quantity of the food.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast dining area was spacious and the breakfast options were more than adequate.

United KingdomOur room (23) was very dark with inadequate lighting - even with both lamps and ceiling spotlights on we needed a torch to read the newspaper! The dark decor didn’t help. Using the hot water in the bathroom washbasin initiated a pump which sounded very loud when used late at night/ early morning so I was concerned in case we disturbed our neighbours. I guess the plumbing is fairly unique given the age of the building! Some furnishings were rather tired.
The Feathers is centrally located in Woodstock so handy for all village amenities, and also close to Blenheim Palace and Oxford. It has a lot of character being several very old buildings merged together. The current scaffolding situation temporarily detracts from the kerb appeal but is obviously necessary for maintenance. The bed was comfy with good bedding. Roomy bathroom. Nice touches like high quality toiletries, good beverage tray and cookies. The duty manager was very helpful.

First of all, the evening receptionist (from Hungary) was super nice and welcoming. The inn is at the town centre, super convenient, amenity kit is of good quality.
