Honestly booked this place as it was much cheaper than a chain hotel on the weekend, wasn't expecting anything amazing from previous reviews but it was lovely and clean, comfy bed, nice shower, stocked teas/coffees, friendly staff. Quick walk from lawrence hill station too. Will likely be back thanks!

I booked thinking the pub had parking but it doesn't - need to make that more clear and let guests know where they can park safely for free on street overnight.

    Great location, lovely comfortable room

Probably due to the time of year, it was more than I would want to pay on a room without breakfast included but it was fine.

    Looked nice, comfortable bed.

There wasn’t one - we were not made aware before our stay that the pub below was separate from the accommodation. No breakfast or evening meal was Available

When we arrived we were told that it was actually an air bnb and not a hotel, however, it lacked all the benefits of an air bnb, usually you get more than one room (living room/dining room) and there were no kitchen facilities. Overall quite expensive for what it was. No parking at the property, only street parking. No blind or curtain on the window. There’s also a bar right under the room so you can hear the music until they shut it off around 1.

Was clean and easy to get into the centre by bus. Staff in the bar were friendly.

I arrived early and requested to check in earlier but didn't not receive an answer. I showed up and rang the bell, there was someone inside but they never came to the door or answered the phone. Finally when 4 o'clock rolled around the door was finally opened and there was no greeting or anything, just and angry face as a welcome and acting as if I wasn't there. I finally spoke first, said hello and mentioned I have a booking. I was shown to my room with minimal conversation and somewhat rude treatment. Honestly, if you want to make extra money renting out rooms above a pub, at least train your staff properly to manage customers and bookings. I waited for almost two hours for no reason. If I wouldn't have lost money by canceling, I would have just because of how poorly I was treated. The rooms are not exactly cheap either and it's noisy until quite late.

Nice room, good location for what I needed.

The car park in the road behind the pub is closed off with barriers & not usable. When I phoned the pub to inquire about parking, I was not told the car park was out of use. But the staff may have been unaware of the situation.

There was a fan in the room so I could keep cool. I stayed on a Sunday night, so the pub downstairs wasn't noisy. Nice toiletries in the shower room & a big soft towel.

The only thing I can think of is the loo roll holder was broken. But it really didn't matter and didn't affect our experience at all.

The Dark Horse pub itself is a very welcoming and warm place. The manager who checked us in was friendly and down-to-earth, which put us right at ease. We had a secure private entrance that was separate from the pub so that was comforting, as well as meaning we could stay out in Bristol as long as we wanted. The room itself was a good size, and pleasantly decorated. It was lovely and warm, with great solid wood furniture. The bed was extremely comfortable and a great size, with plenty of pillows and a soft duvet. The bathroom was nicely renovated with a good sized shower that had great water pressure and was very easy to use. The towels provided were very soft and absorbent too. Yes the pub is on a busy street but we weren't bothered by the traffic noise at all, and despite arriving on a Friday night, the busy pub wasn't too noisy either. A hairdryer with attachments was provided, as well as shampoo and conditioner. There was a good sized kettle with tea and coffee, with milk available to order from the pub (to cut down on waste). There are loads of cafes and there's an Aldi opposite with a Tesco a 1 min walk down the road so there's lots of amenities close by. We loved our short stay and would absolutely stay here again!

The toilet wasn’t exactly clean and there was some grime/limescale trickling down the tap in the bathroom sink - it didn’t look like it’d been cleaned a while. Bed was comfy though.

Easy to get to and plenty of parking behind the pub. friendly staff.

Outside of the room is the only thing that lets this listikg down and by no great means either. Only something to mention if pushed too ask. Which is the journey from curb side to bed side not being overly congruent

The room was too light my eyes on entering. V tasteful presentation.

Can't really complain too much about the noise as obviously the rooms are above a pub however people leaving the pub after closing were extremely loud.
