A couple of the staff could have been a bit more friendly and been a bit more amenable and helpful. Did not feel welcomed. My daughter came down for breakfast at 9 45 and was told breakfast had finished altho was told 8-10am. Also TV did not work.

The location and size of the rooms. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good.

We arrived to be told the room (double)was not available due to an electrical fault, they offered a alternative room, two single beds (twin) there were no others available. We took the room, however the bathroom/shower room was full of mould. We decided just to get on with it and stay, as the rest of the room was clean and tidy apartfromthecobwebs up on the ceiling, later that evening I found out that they had a double booking in my name, and would try and resolve this before I was charged double for both rooms, (booking. Com) also I was not charged the correct price as per my booking confirmation, the manager apologised and said he would resolve the issue.

How close to the local shops, restaurants.

Front-facing room was very noisy (particularly in mornings). Decor was straight out of 1970's 'Fawlty Towers' (except it was Hailsham High Street out the window, not Torquay!)

Comfortable, clean bed. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. Centrally located in Hailsham.

Room small with old fashioned bathroom, lots of noise from the street and nearby church bells, room uncomfortably hot - would avoid staying again in peak summer as no aircon.

    Friendly staff, breakfast adequate.

I had breakfast, which was very nice. There was a help yourself style choice and also a cooked option if required. I had a nice plate of scrambled eggs on toast and there were more options such as a full English and vegetarian choices.

Fact that after ordering small plates of food when paying bill being charged for normal size and told they don’t do small plates in an evening when night before it was fine

Location was ok but parking is a problem. Just a few spaces at back of property and the locals just use the disabled bay in front as their personal parking spot

Bedrooms were very tired , and very noisy especially the rooms overlooking the road. Step into the bathroom in room two Is a hazard and should be marked .

Welcoming and the food in the restaurant was pleasant.

Clean comfortable room, quiet. Good food is available in the bar. I was just there overnight while doing a two diving trip in Eastbourne, convenient for Eastbourne Sovereign Marina.

Staff unfriendly when checking in, poor response when asking about parking as no spaces left at venue. Room very, very hot at night. Thought I’d booked for bed and breakfast but had to pay more for this.

Clean and comfortable. Breakfast was extra, but good.

The days we were there it was very hot around 32 degrees we got back to our room at night it was stifling heat we had left curtains down and window slightly down to try and keep it cool, unfortunately with the window partly open at night the noise from refrigeration plant at Iceland shop next door was really loud which made it hard to sleep. The hotel kitchen extractor fans switched off at 9-30 pm so it wasn’t coming from there. Would not stop there again because of this not the hotels fault .

Food was very good ,staff were very friendly and helpful and cheerful good choice of breakfast we had an evening meal with family and friends all had various meals and all said the same meal was very good

I'd have liked a chair in the room, but there was plenty of hanging space for clothes.

I had a sound night's rest in a cool and quiet ground floor room followed by a good breakfast. Gluten-free toast was provided. It's a nice bright pub with a good atmosphere and the landlord works very hard indeed; he deserves success.

We arrived on the hottest day of the year and the room was difficult to cool until the weather changed. A fan was provided which allowed a reasonably good night's sleep. Subsequent nights were cooler so not an issue

Breakfast was very good. The cooked element was freshly prepared. Beer was very good Evening meal was good pub grub

Don't stay in Room No. 5. It is directly above the generator which is very loud. The room was boiling hot at 11.30 at night and we had to sleep with the window open, so got the full blast of the loud noise. Also it barely fits a double bed. The bathroom can't be aired, as the window doesn't open. Otherwise the bathroom was fine and so was the bed.

The breakfast was good. The room and bathroom were very clean.

The room was very noisy both from inside and outside Parking was difficult and insalubrious. Be aware that this is a town centre pub with rooms. My bed was also not actually flat.

Great staff who prepared a nice breakfast and evening meal.
