The food in our opinion has gone very downhill over the last year. Since we last visited our roast beef dinner didn’t have roast potatoes or Yorkshire, pudding and enough vegetables for one person to accommodate three people.

Having stopped there before some of the little extras have disappeared like free hot drinks downstairs for residents but I suppose with the cutbacks. Also the room, on t, had not been vacuumed. Obviously an oversight but still had to mention it.

Stair carpet worn , eggs undercooked at breakfast. Room too warm and it was December ! maybe we were above the kitchen.

The location was perfect. Staff are all extremely helpful and friendly. Information given about car parks and prices prior to arrival was a great help. Food was fantastic and rooms just what was needed.

The only complaint was the Breakfast . English I think it had been cooked and left for a while warming up .....I never moan but Ten pounds for Breakfast ,should deliver freshly . . cooked . ..

Location perfect .Breakfast was usual , cereal fruit and yogurt .Cooked Breakfast was okay but when we stay again ,we would not stay for Breakfast .. .The rooms were as expected .comfortable spotless and everything we needed for a short break .The staff were lovely , very polite and helpful .We came by train .and got a Taxi from station ...Five pounds excellent stopped outside The coach House perfect ...really enjoyed our stay for Christmas markets and parade ... .Will definatly stay here again ... ..

Next time will request a lower floor as husband struggles with stairs but only booked late. Absolutely not the fault of the coach house but will think ahead in future

Can't think of anything to improve our experience.

The Coach House is located in the main cultural, shopping and hospitality area of the city. We parked the car in the new multi-story about 50 yeards walk away. Our room overlooked the busy square by the Cathedral where the University graduation cermonies were taking place during our stay. Great to see the proud parents coming into the hotel with their offspring in their uni gowns. Chester Visitor Centre is almost next door for inspiration. It was Halloween and so there was plenty of revelry later that evening. The bar area was nicely decorated for the occasion and the popular guided ghost tours depart from just outside. Even with all this going on it was very quiet in our room (room 2). We had a mid afternoon meal before check in and very sustantial full English breakfast in the hotel before our departure, excellent table service and freshly cooked wholesome food. Sausages are some of the best I've tasted. Enormous comfortably firm bed, scrupulously clean bathroom with instant hot water and tea making facilities made our stay perfect in every way. Oh and the bar downstairs was handy - Wainwrights recommended.

Bathroom needed a little attention - grouting on floor missing in places, shower hose needed cleaning and shower corner rack was rusty, Electric extension leads were not working although there were enough sockets for this not to be a problem.
