This hotel has a B&B vibe with the character and charm you’d expect from a historical building in central Canterbury

I wish there was a bath but maybe we needed to request a room with one if we wanted it that much. To be honest I have nothing bad to say.

The location was incredible, right in the centre of town with shops, restaurants and Tesco round the corner. There was parking right in front of the building. The style of house and rooms had character and historical charm. The manager, Ben, was attentive, responsive to questions and an excellent cook of bacon in the morning. The space was really clean and functional.

Pretty sure it was advertised as having a private bathroom because I don't like sharing so wouldn't have booked it otherwise. Didn't have a private bathroom in the actual meaning of the term, where the bathroom is contained in the room. It was in the hallway open for everyone to use, but I was assured that nobody would be using it and it was ours solely. I thought that breakfast would be included because I paid £125 for ONE night for 4 people but it wasn't. It's actually £8pp. Staff were quite abrupt and slightly rude, only saw him twice- once at check in at 3 and once at checkout where I had to knock on the possibly locked door to get his attention, and no staff available after dark. Which was an issue because we couldn't figure out the shower and had to call the phone number. Stairs are steep and narrow and are the 'going around in a spiral' design on the corners. It's an old building so there's not much they can do. TV is actually quite crappy and worse than not having a proper private bathroom - I know! It's Freeview, so very little signal on the few channels it has, and the fact that it's right in the middle of the room makes watching it almost impossible on the tiny screen in a big room. My son could still see it from his bed despite us angling the TV mount towards our bed which was opposite my children's beds. Thankfully we weren't in the room that much. But I'd just like to warn anyone that there's literally one plug socket in the whole room and the kettle uses it so if you've got devices to charge you'll need to bring a plug extension with at least 4 sockets. Bed felt like it was sloping downwards, mattress was hard and uncomfortable. Even my children said their beds were uncomfortable. Overall I'd only book this place again if it was literally the very last option and I didn't have a choice.

Decor is clean and well maintained, towels and body wash available and location is excellent. Pillows were very soft and lovely to sleep on- shame about the bed.

Folks who find it difficult to navigate narrow stair cases might have trouble getting up and down to their rooms.

We had a lovely day in Canterbury, and Coach House was the perfect base for us to explore town. The location right near the centre of town, yet with a parking space in front of the B&B makes this a very convenient base. The room is large, with a separate bathroom in the hallway.

No complaints. The decor is dated but that didn't bother us and everything was clean. If it were to be revamped the rooms would be much more expensive.

Fantastic location, with parking. Nice big room, with everything we needed and a huge bathroom. (Though there were only two of us I had booked the family room as that was the only one left). Ben was happy for us to check in a little early as we were meeting friends in the city centre at 2, and was happy for us to leave our car parked there until lunch time the next day while we met another friend for brunch, as other guests weren't expected until 2.

We had contact to the personal by phone only. I felt treated like my mother telling me what to do and what not to do. The staircases can be challenging.

Perfect location to explore the city for an amazing price.

Very narrow precipitous staircase to reach room. Bathroom smelly from damp mould. Shower very small. Central position meant rather noisy during night with revellers walking in streets.

Great position to visit central Canterbury. Quaint and historic property.

A quirky building in a perfect location.

Whether or not this is a negative depends on your point of view - it's an old quirky building. I had to go up two stories and down one to reach my room, the lock worked but it took me several tries to learn how to get the key to turn in it reliably. The kind of stuff you learn to expect from an old English hotel or B&B. This might bother some people but not me.

The Coach House is less than 20min on foot from pretty much anywhere you want to be in Cambridge - the old town, the cathedral, the train stations, pretty much all the shopping and restaurants, etc. The room was quite spacious for the price - I'm used to paying for a bed with barely enough room to walk around it but this room felt quite airy.

We did not find any staff member at the property after checkin to get another bathtowel. We only had one bathtowel in the room so the two of us had to share one towel for the two night stay. The room was advertised as having a private bathroom, but that meant only the shower and a sink. The toilet was a shared one. Logic and experience says that a bathroom includes both a toilet and a shower/bath.

Shops, sights and restaurants very close by. Free parking and wifi. Big room.

Only flag would be that the staircase is very narrow so difficult to navigate with suitcase (and tricky for the dog)

Room was large but cosy & very comfy. It was a bit noisy at night due to overlooking the street but ok. Bathroom was great. And really appreciated the recycled material shower caps ! Having parking so close to town centre is a huge plus too. All communication was seamless and owner was super helpful. We will be back !

5* central location. Clean & spacious rooms
    • Leisure trip
    • Group
    • Family Room
    • Stayed 3 nights

It was fine for our group, however the stairs are quite steep & narrow due to it being an old house so others may find it tricky to get up and down with a large suitcase. It was a little unclear what was included in our stay e.g. Breakfast. There were lots of food & drink in the communal area but it was not clear if we were able to use this during our stay. It did not affect our stay though as there was a supermarket & lots of cafes on the doorstep.

Stayed in the Family room as a group of 3, for 3 nights in July 2023. The room was as described and like the photos. Room was very spacious and we had a separate very large bathroom just down the hall. The communal spaces were clean and well kept, although we did not use the kitchen during our stay. After the 2nd night our beds were remade and we were provided with fresh towels. The location was 5* - within a minutes walk to the centre & shops and right opposite a supermarket. Check-in and check-out were super-easy. The owner met us on arrival once we had provided an approximate arrival time and we were settled into our room straight away. Would recommend for a short stay. I willdefinitely consider returning if I were to visit Canterbury again.
