Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt felt more like an Air B nB stay rather than an Inn as the accommodation was groundfloor and outside across a yard with customer tables under our window. We imagined staying inside an old world Inn but The Inn was closed up a lot of the time we were there so we were isolated and just using a side gate .. also meant we couldn’t ask for things eg. milk etc and apparently meant no cleaning, bed making or providing fresh milk which is what we would have expected for £95 per night room only and what everywhere else we have stayed other than Air B nB does. We hadn’t realised check in is 5.30 so were a bit early which is maybe why the greeting felt a bit strained but thankfully we were let in. The mattress was the super soft kind which didn’t suit us as when one person moves its like an earthquake I think with a few tweaks and most importantly a clear description of what to expect this would be a very nice place to stay.
Good location in centre of Chagford .. nicely decorated .. excellent shower

United KingdomPersonally we found the mattress not supportive enough.
Welcoming couple who run it. It was quiet, being in an annex. The items in the room, such as bottled water, were of high quality. Room only, but Chagford is an expensive area so not too bad value, and they kindly left ceral and fruit in the entrance area. The best thing about it was the quality of the food in the pub itself, which was phenomenal.

United KingdomI think check in could be earlier and it's a real shame they don't do a hot breakfast. I think all hotel rooms are expensive if you are a single traveller so I don't think this room was any better or worse than others.
My room was large and wonderfully peaceful, but I think perhaps I was the only one staying that night. Check in is very late but the owner kindly let me leave my bags there in the morning so I could go off for the day.

United KingdomTV reception poor due to the surrounding hills but the wifi worked well.Fairly basic rooms but more than adequate. Fresh milk and mineral water supplied.
Breakfast not applicable. There are great cafes in Chagford so it was good to take a walk before breakfast. However dinner was fantastic and my dog and I were made to feel most welcome.

United KingdomSmall basic room. No waste bin in bathroom. Charged full price for a meal when didn’t want all the accompanying sides. TV didn’t work but didn’t offer a discount or anything. Not available until 9am the next morning.
They provided milk for breakfast (just cereal though). Good location.

United KingdomA little expensive for somewhere just to sleep with no breakfast. Could have added a few more finishing touches like all the light bulbs working, TV remote with batteries not secure, very basic tea (loose tea bags) and coffee (open coffee pouches). I would guess the thought is there (nice decor, comfy bed) but maybe staff shortages cause finishing touches to be overlooked.

United KingdomMy only concern was that the bed was very awkward to get out of, if your the one sleeping next to the wall, I would recommend a divan bed rather than one with a foot board as it made it so difficult to get out of bed in the night for the toilet especially at my age, without disturbing my partner, where as with a divan bed I could have just slid of the end of the bed.
The location was very easy to find. The room was good, the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

United KingdomHad the downstairs room, which is big but close to outdoor drinking area. So some noise until 11pm. Was generally fine - doesn't attract a rowdy crowd,
Ambiance - it's contemporary but still authentic Moorland vibe. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. I know from previous visits the food is tasty and delicious
