Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe rooms are dated and the pub not very inviting, too many 'bits' and too many table and chairs, and lots of lights. It could be made into a beautiful country pub, but needs the interior to be thought through.
Nice breakfast

United KingdomWhen we arrived we were an hour early for check in, so we asked the young man at reception if the room was ready as we were a bit early. We were a bit shocked when he said the room was ready but if we wanted it an hour early there would be an extra charge of about £22. We have never experienced this before and declined the offer and said we would return in an hour. Thank god we did as when we did get our room I would have been very upset at paying a penny more than the original booking, as the room was awful, it was tiny, cramped old fashioned and in dire need of an update. The TV was very small and squashed on to a table pushed against the wall and had about 3 boxes to get it working, we had to call someone to explain how to use it. The bathroom although clean was not inviting to use as it was so old. We did ask to change rooms but no others were available. We were very disappointed and thought of leaving but the host chatted to us and explained in detail that they were working very hard at renovating the whole pub and had just finished the downstairs and that the other rooms were next. The room we had was the worst room(size wise) and she was very apologetic. However, it did affect the enjoyment of our stay!
The owner was very nice and welcoming and explained that they had recently taken over the pub and was in the process of updating the upstairs bedrooms. The downstairs area was lovely, the bar and restaurant area was well decorated and clean. The breakfast was very good and we ate in the bar for our evening meal which was plain but well cooked homemade food. It is in a lovely location near Hythe town and a short drive to other interesting areas to visit.

United KingdomNot a dislike, but I would have liked the restaurant to have served dinner a little later.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was a decent size, clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. As I was leaving early the following morning they prepared a takeaway snack, sandwich, crisps and juice, which was left at my room door to collect when I left.

United KingdomMusic in the bar is very loud due to the low ceiling and speakers being badly sited. Very difficult to hear the bar staff. Did not affect our room at all.
Welcome and laid back in a quiet village-like area. There is a one-star restaurant about 50m away but I suspect you would have to book months in advance. Breakfast good, there's a well-stocked mini-mart 70m away and a Waitrose about 5 minutes into Hythe.

FranceThe shower head in the room badly leaked, but which was easily to mended. WiFi has weak in the room and the TV didn't seem to work.
This is a lovely location in the village of Saltwood. On arrival the welcome was very pleasant. Unfortunately the WiFi was not brilliant and the Sky TV was problematic. They catered for a vegetarian diet and the staff were very hospitable. The evening menu was also veggie friendly.
