What a great find! This cosy and elegant place is a true gem with friendly staff who made my stay even more enjoyable. The free parking in the heart of town is a huge bonus, allowing easy walks to fantastic nearby restaurants. My room was comfortable, with soft pillows that ensured a great night's sleep. Thank you, Casterbridge, for a wonderful stay!

Access to hotel out of hours overly complicated. Difficult to see numbers to gain access in darkness.Breakfast served from 08.45 is rather late although in fairness owner did offer to serve us at 08.15.

The hotel does not have it's own carpark and parking is on a nearby street. This did not affect me as I had made prior arrangements but if car parking is important to you then this is the only potential negative.

Lovely, friendly host, very knowledgeable about the local area with plenty of suggestions for things to see and do, plus restaurant recommendations if needed. The breakfast was fantastic, plenty of variety and more than enough to fuel yourself for the day. The breakfast menu is a tick-box so there's no danger of getting anything you don't/can't eat. The hotel itself is quite quirky and very nicely decorated. It's a beautiful old building with lots of history and our host was keen to point this out. The location is perfect, very central and I would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Lovely accommodation. Very clean, comfortable bed and lovely big light room. Jackie is an excellent host and very knowledgable and helpful. Full english breakfast was best I've ever had. Full marks Jackie.

The room was really nicely decorated, very clean and with a big comfy bed. Everyone was really friendly and we got lots of tips in relation to what to do and where to eat etc which were spot on.

Loved what I saw and the lady in charge was charming. I'd not been feeling well so missed breakfast and spending time in the quirky downstairs areas day before...was given a lovely breakfast/picnic to go when we checked out. Very thoughtful. Would go again

The only thing we would have done differently was to have chosen a larger room, it was as it said in the literature, ( cosy). One other thing to mention is the drain in the shower cubicle is not draining away the water fast enough, so it does need looking into.

The staff were very friendly and informative of the town and the surrounding areas. Breakfast was very good, we chose to eat in the conservatory and view the well stocked garden.

Parking can be a problem, only 3 spaces available for hotel guests on first come basis. Rooms next to the road can be noisy.

Couldn't fault anything and in a very good location would recommend no parking at property but plenty 2 mins away at very reasonable price central to museums and shops and restaurants

Being on the High Street, the traffic might wake you up if you slept with the window open. So if this is of concern I would suggest a rear bedroom. However, the windows had secondary glazing, so with the windows closed, noise was not a problem.

Excellent location for exploring inland Dorset. Easy walking distance to plenty of restaurants. Charming host with plenty of ideas for things to do and tips on restaurants. Very clean with no outdoor shoes in bedrooms rule. 4 private parking spaces on first come, first served basis. In reality, this worked well and we had a place every day. Would strongly recommend this guest house, an oasis of peace in the centre of Dorchester.
