The bathroom fittings were a little bit tired and outdated, although perfectly functional. Although the room was generally clean, one of the bedside light bulbs was really dusty, and inside the drawers could have done with a wipe round as well.

Breakfast was excellent, we ate there in the evenings as well, which was also excellent, and just as well because there were no other eating establishments for quite a few miles. The room was a good size and comfortable. Staff were friendly and efficient. We enjoyed our stay. Lovely view across countryside.

Although the room was comfortable, some of the fittings in the bathroom were in need of attention eg the shower screen.

Restaurant and food very good. Breakfast also very good with a nice selection.

Poached and boiled eggs in the morning were a little overcooked, so I couldn't dip my roman soldiers but otherwise very tasty.

Friendly helpful staff, very comfortable room, evening meal was excellent, quiet room for the pool table, good selection of beers and ciders. Lovely views and atmosphere.

At breakfast, with a whole dining room available, my place had been set with almost no separation from a table of four blokes. I'm sure they were great guys, but I didnt know them. As a solo traveller, I would have preferred more private space.

In the room, almost every need had been anticipated. The staff were friendly and helpful. The meals were first class. Car parking was free and convenient. For me the location was great; out in the country with stunning views.

Stains on ceiling where water has obviously come in needs painting over. Very tiny sink in bathroom with no plug so difficult to use to wash in. Food in restaurant looked very nice but couldn't eat there as little or no vegan options which was a shame as my partner did like the look of the pies. Maybe a vegan pie option could be added.

Very comfortable bed. Large room with plenty of space. Was clean. Ideal location. Nice breakfast. Good value for money.

    Leaving.

Firstly, the location is spectacular, with far-reaching views over some stunning countryside. The room I was in [Castle] was large, modern with king-size bed. Very comfortable with high quality bedding. The shower room was modern clean with great pressure walk in shower. Then we get to the food and bar, I can not tell you how good the food is. With a variety of home made pies and the best chips I have ever had. The selection of beers was endless and atmosphere in the bar was perfect. A brilliant place. I would definitely stay again.

    The chips.

Stayed two nights and had a lovely time. Really liked the Inn, staff were very friendly, everywhere was very clean and our room was really cosy and had a wonderful view. The beds were very comfortable, plenty of pillows and cushions. Tea making facilities, bottled water, hair dryer, straighteners even, little bottles of shampoo and body wash, really fluffy towels and a toweling robe in the wardrobe. Food/menu was great, we didn't have to wait long for the meal to arrive, the portions were large and I couldn't eat it all and the chips weren't nice at all, but apart from that I would certainly return. The bar in the evening was really welcoming and dog friendly.

The sink in the en-suite was tiny, not a proper bathroom sink, which made washing your face impossible if you like to splosh! Filling the kettle wasn’t easy either.

Lovely setting and great food, particularly impressed with the ‘Pie Menu’. The restaurant is obviously popular with locals which is always a good sign. Huge bed which as very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful, we had a really good time.
