The place needs some TLC. Lovely location but lots needs attention. If you can’t do hanging baskets remove old tattered ones. Plastics flowers on tables! No kerb appeal. Breakfast could be served better. Don’t make guests boil their own water for tea!!

The food served at dinner and breakfast was very good. Piping hot and very tasty

I thought the price was a little steep but it was a bank holiday weekend. However, having had such a pleasant stay the price is not a concern.

The location was amazing, the views, nearby pond, sheep, hens, free range eggs for sale. The property appears to have a lot of its original features and our room was big with real wood furniture and the bathroom was also big with a roll top bath and his and hers sinks. We loved the space and the traditional feel of the place. The breakfast was delicious. It was clearly freshly cooked and the portions were generous. The staff were pleasant and communication with the hotel prior to our stay was excellent.

Unfortunately for us, the previous people did not advise that they had broken the base on one of the single beds, and housekeeping did not notice either. Rubbish bins in the beer garden area hadn’t been emptied for quite some time.

Great location with serene countryside! Authentic hotel steeped in charm. Great food - both dinner and breakfast served in charming rooms. Bar was inviting with a good selection of drink options including coffee. Welcoming staff. Larger style rooms that were well equipped.

Bar closed at 9pm. Room was under whelming, no channels on our TV and nobody to help. No sockets on one side of the room which included bedside on that side. Curtain function broken, one of the single mattresses requires replacing, bathroom was a little tired and dirty and extractor not working. Dining room devoid of any atmosphere and personality.

The location was excellent, and staff were pleasant happy and helpful. Evening meal, and breakfast were good.

Wasn't any dislikes, really apart from the bath hot water tap didn't work, which was an issue. We had been out all day and wanted to soak our aching muscles. Cobwebs everywhere plus a few broken items, sink, lamp, shower curtain just basic attention to detail. Oh, and for a pub, they had nothing on draught it was all out of a can.

The location was excellent, good parking and the room was lovely. A great comfortable bed good size room.

There were little fruit flies that kept coming in around the window (hatching I think) and there was a gap in the sealing around the window which we could see through to outside. Breakfast was adequate but would have liked some fresh fruit.

The location is fabulous and our room looked out on Kilnsey Crag and was nice and quiet! Staff are very helpful and friendly. Room was comfy and clean.

The room was clean and attractively furnished but quite basic and the mattresses on the twin beds were worn and not very comfortable. The booking process through booking.com was unsatisfactory with message saying our bank card not valid. Apparently this “happens all the time”.

Marked down as no spa bath as advertised. Was just a normal freestanding bath with a shower head. Was disappointed as this is one of the reasons I booked the hotel and was looking forward to it. One of the two sinks in the room was badly cracked. Be aware, hotel is quite a bit away from anything else. We liked it and is excellent for walkers but bar is a bit quiet (again we liked it) but just a heads up

Really nice room, excellent breakfast, beautiful location. A really nice stay. The lady seemed to be worked off her feet so credit to her for her service. Unless she has a twin, she checked us in in the afternoon, served us in the bar at night and served us breakfast in the morning!

We had to clean the bath before we could use it. It had been cleaned but not properly. Also could do with TV on the wall in that room as the post on the bed blocks your view of the TV.

The rooms are lovely. We stayed in the wharfedale room, and the bathroom was lovely. Brilliant shower, and the bath is large and has a great view. Also, the food is fantastic.

We didn’t realise that there was more and safer car parking behind the pub, rather than just on the roadside. Might be an idea to have clearer signage to show this, immediately outside the pub.

Friendly staff and comfortable room. It’s an older property with lots of character and lovely views across the dales. Good cooked breakfast offered.
