A lovely hotel in stunning, but out of the way location, with a need for a tiny bit of TLC

Marked down as no spa bath as advertised. Was just a normal freestanding bath with a shower head. Was disappointed as this is one of the reasons I booked the hotel and was looking forward to it. One of the two sinks in the room was badly cracked. Be aware, hotel is quite a bit away from anything else. We liked it and is excellent for walkers but bar is a bit quiet (again we liked it) but just a heads up

Really nice room, excellent breakfast, beautiful location. A really nice stay. The lady seemed to be worked off her feet so credit to her for her service. Unless she has a twin, she checked us in in the afternoon, served us in the bar at night and served us breakfast in the morning!

We had to clean the bath before we could use it. It had been cleaned but not properly. Also could do with TV on the wall in that room as the post on the bed blocks your view of the TV.

The rooms are lovely. We stayed in the wharfedale room, and the bathroom was lovely. Brilliant shower, and the bath is large and has a great view. Also, the food is fantastic.

We didn’t realise that there was more and safer car parking behind the pub, rather than just on the roadside. Might be an idea to have clearer signage to show this, immediately outside the pub.

Friendly staff and comfortable room. It’s an older property with lots of character and lovely views across the dales. Good cooked breakfast offered.

Payment made upon check-in, but admin confusion resulting in follow-up request for bill settlement. Hotel then agreed payment had been made.

A superb location and, at the special offer price, excellent value fror money.

Just a couple of very small negatives, no plug for the bath. Had Togo and ask as my husband prefers a bath. The lady dealt with it. The second the television did not work, again I reported it, she came up to have a look and couldn't get it working, but to be fair she offered us another room, but we thanked her and declined.

Staff what we saw were very helpful. Room was clean, hotel local to were we wanted to be, evening meal and breakfast was lovely.

The view from our room was of the car repair garage across the road but by peering around the side of the window it was possible to see the nice views of the hills in the distance. The room itself is in need of a little TLC but was nice and did the job!

The 2 ladies that seemed to carry out most of the public tasks were brilliant, always happy and smiling and willing to help when they were required. The evening meals were good and perfectly cooked and after returning to the bar we were able to get drinks and sit and relax until 10ish. The breakfast was excellent, the 'full english' was huge and set us up for the day. However there was not much of a selection of cereal and no fruit or bread rolls etc as found in some hotels

THE BEDS, I’ve never slept on a mattress so hard before this let the overall stay down, room could do with an update, touch of mould & damp in the bathroom that needs attention.

lovely staff very helpful and friendly, we had an evening meal and breakfast food was beautiful. the location was great for us beautiful views, stayed with our two dogs who were also made welcome.

The room was a little dated and neglected. It was clean and comfortable - especially for a single night, but a number of small issues which should be quick and easy to fix and update.

Lovely building in beautiful setting. Bar area and food were very good. Staff friendly and welcoming.

On arriving to our room.(the wensleydale room). The door knob wasn't secure on the outside, was difficult to open on outside and inside. Went down to ask for screwdriver and screw to make secure from inside. They gave to me but didn't offer to sort it. The plug in Bath wasn't the right one so water leaked out whilst bathing. Decor around window was below standard(black mould,). Tap on sink moved about when you tried to use it.

The staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was great. Compliments to the chef.

The fact that we did not get the room we first booked due to an error on their system as duplicated bookings so did not have a separate shower and no room left with a shower. Also our room had a boiler going all night so didn’t sleep much. When I came to have a bath one of our folded towels was wet so couldn’t use.

Shower was useless couldn't maintain an even temperature not good for 2 adults and two 16 year old teenagers!.. only stayed 2 nights water was freezing cold on our last morning so none of us could have showers.. toilet wouldn't flush either it was only after my husband managed to get it going, the room was cold in the mornings and the television just wouldn't connect to WiFi or show any normal channels (we didn't need Tele but nice for kids to watch a bit) not enough selection for breakfast just one cereal option/toast jam etc.. no yogurts or fruit? although the full English was very nice.. disappointed to find the pub was closed both evenings when we returned between 8 - 9pm.. the place seemed deserted think we were the only guests apart from another couple.. I wanted to report that the water was cold when checking out but there was nobody around, desk was closed so we had to leave our key in a box which isn't very professional.. it's a lovely old building but it really needs the problems addressing and to be more welcoming, the bedrooms really need some TLC.. the two ladies we saw were lovely it is in no way a reflection on them but the owner really needs to step down from her CEO role and address these issues because I'm sure she would be very disappointed had she have stayed here herself!

Spacious family room, very clean, comfy clean beds, good bath towels, plenty of storage space, beautiful views, only saw two members of staff but pleasant and friendly, lovely hot breakfast.

Would have liked a shower. However, that wasn't the style of the room.

A great quirky room. Would have liked a shower but the roll top bath was massive. The staff were excellent and really attentive. The food in the restaurant was superb..steaks that just melted in your mouth. Had a great stay.

Creaky floor boards , but a 400 Yr old building. That's what you get. Fely guilty every time we walked through each corridor, thinking it may have disturbed other guests.

Location to where we had plans. Very easy to find. Simple checkin. No hassle. Cooked breakfast as you would expect. Very filling. Lacks more choice for those who didn't want a full English.

Unfortunately we had some plumbing issues, sink plug stuck, bath plug too small so water emptied slowly and then door handle came off. Staff were aware of plug issue but hadn't fixed it prior to our stay. Didn't spoil stay but need a few maintenance issues sorting.

Lovely breakfast and fabulous location with amazing views. Evening meal choice reasonable and food well cooked. Only one member of staff on duty front of house but very friendly and helpful.
