Found bathroom a bit too small. Was given adjoining room and found people in next room quite noisy so would request not to be given one again.

Lovely place in lovely location. Staff great. Rooms lovely and clean. Food excellent.

The bed was comfortable although the pillows were hard and uncomfortable, out of four pillows I couldn't find one that didn't feel hard or lumpy.

The location was good in a nice position to walk into Grasmere and easy access from the main road. The food was good, we had an evening meal as well as breakfast, the full english was very filling.

We were in the annexe & was quite a complicated trek of corridors & stairs to get there from the main building, found it easier to go outside & walk round the back but not ideal if the weather was bad

    Amazing location

Room was a little far away, but it was fine. I guess that isn't really an issue

The staff were outstanding. Lovely people, really helpful and always helpful best I've seen since we left the EU. My friend and I came for a bit of walking and the location was perfect. Grasmere is a place I know very well and it was perfect. Just outside the village and away from the hubbub of the town. Would say there again.

Our room was quite a long walk up and down stairs. Could have been a bit closer to reception/bar/restaurant. Did asked to be moved but no other rooms left.

    Good location. Clean. Friendly staff.

Food was literally another standard altogether-literally life threatening. My treat going away is mussels. I had a starter size-the cider sauce was delicious BUT there was no bowl for shells, no spoon, nothing to wipe fingers, no proper mussels steamer set, and the smallest sized shells I've ever been served in 50 years. They were small, thin, broken, shut. Throughout the meal, sand, grit, SHARDS of broken shells I had to keep taking out of my mouth. For the first time ever, Ive had to think about reporting to food standards. The shards were sharp with many splinters throughout the sauce and in other shells. I was assured the first night this didn't usually happen, new chef, etc. So the 2nd night I was stunned, hurt and v angry that not only did it happen again, so neither chef nor staff cared, but the person next to me had the full meal and same experience, having to leave her meal-another customer who'd had pheasant and found, not shot, but a broken mussel shell, in their party's meal! We were told of 5 complaints from mussel orders that night alone. We didn't have the heart to sit in the lovely surroundings, have more after, and I was up all night and ill, still two days later. I feel angry no one appeared to give a damn-just order another meal, and we'll leave the cost-these weren't cheap meals! Etc While there were options for intolerance, there were no desserts or meals for diabetics. Not even sugar free ice cream. All the meals were carb heavy or needed serious adapting with omissions. The out of date menu in our room was different with more diabetic options. Mocktails and food presentation were a fail. There's a lovely post box I asked if it was usable, told no but people do post. The guy was lovely, he opened it up and lots of mail had been put there but a spider made him not want to collect it and arrange post at a local box (even if old this would be kind).

The location, view, room, hotel were great. The room was spotless, the bathroom and bed great. The TV was a good size. It was a very long walk to the bedroom, lots of stairs and no help with bags when I was clearly disabled. Loved, loved, loved the decor, character friendliness. Views were beautiful.

we didn’t enjoy our food at dinner , my scampi felt cheap and the same for the pie . my friend had the curry and the nann was hard , just expected a bit more luxury for the price. Also the bar didn’t have any brandy left which was a disappointment. breakfast was lovely though.

location and dog friendly , felt very relaxed . just had a nice feel .

Checked in, given the room key and we found our room hadn't been cleaned from the previous occupants, walked in to the bed stripped, used coffee mugs on the side and room uncleaned. We had to book time slots for dining and breakfast which a lot were already taken by the time we checked in which is an inconvenience as we couldn't leisurely dine when we felt ready. We were given a drink on the house at the bar while we waited for our room to be cleaned however for the price of the stay and little inconveniences it was quite disappointing.

Beautiful location, comfiest bed, lovely food.

The evening menu could do with more variety. Virtually every meal comes with chips. Options for smaller portions or chips on the side would be welcome.
