Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe hotel is 500 years old and reflects in the rooms. If you have ever been to a wonky house at the fun fair, that is what you get. Everything is run down and old . The bar and restaurant area is nice. As seen on the hotel inspector series 5 ep 5. People return because they are made welcome. Overall we had a lovely time. 😍
The owners and the staff were fantastic. They made you welcome and couldn't do enough for you. A lovely breakfast. We were a family of 9 and they made all of our stay so special including the grandchildren. Our bank holiday weekend was so enjoyable. The village is lovely.

United KingdomRemember, it's a 500 year old building. The rooms reflect that. Everything is wonkey. The rooms need decorating.
The owners and staff are amazing. They can't do enough to make your stay memorable. 5 🌟 The sheets were clean white cotton. The breakfast was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble.

United KingdomI think although the beds were nice and clean and fresh, a bit more attention to cleaning would be good.
Location was excellent as within walking distance of the friend I came to visit. Breakfast was excellent. I think you might want to make clear that there were a lot of stairs to climb and no lift to enable someone who would struggle.

United KingdomThe rooms we had were nothing like those depicted in the photos and our's was small and very hot. Not the best equipped or furnished and the window was damaged and couldn't be opened to cool the room down. They could do with some TLC but I appreciate major changes would be difficult with the age of the building.
A very old and quaint hotel which provided an interesting stay. Many areas have "wonky" doors, walls, no right angles and sloping floors which is fun after some alcohol.:-)

United KingdomAs other reviewers highlight, it's needing a bit of TLC. The bathroom was tatty and the bathroom radiator was jammed on in the summer, so we had to shut the bathroom door and open our window. There was one tiny sachet of shower gel between two of us. Friends staying also had issues with their bathrooms.
Lovely old historic building with wobbly walls and uneven floors which are charming. Staff were very friendly and helpful and helped us store our bicycles safely. They also arranged an earlier breakfast to suit us.

United KingdomReception unmanned. Keys and invoice just left on a table! The hotel/pub is understaffed. I believe only 2 staff members cover both. There was a charity music festival in a courtyard and pub less than 100 years away. The music and street noise carried on until about 11.30. Sleep was almost impossible. I had to be up at 6, not the hotels fault, of course Needed a shower to revive. But this was almost stone cold. Left it running for 2/3 minutes. Could only stand under for 30 seconds.. This place is clearly struggling to stay open and compete with a refurbished hotel nearby. The worst aspect is that I have emailed the hotel twice, seeking some form of compensation. A small refund or even a discount on a future stay (presuming the cold shower was a 1 off)
Lovely slightly quirky period building. Comfortable bed, good sized room

United KingdomIn entering there was a foisty smell and that set the tone. Dated and drab throughout. Room with cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, curtains hanging when drawn, lamps without bulbs and took an age for hot water for a shower approx 6-7 mins, shower screen sealed in place with mouldy silicone.

United KingdomWe were on the top floor and there was no water pressure, so hot water may have come eventually but we didn't find it! We were only staying for one night so accepted that it was a quick wash only! Loved the old building so much that its quirks wouldn't stop us from returning.
Fantastically characterful building right in the centre of town. The roof was warm, clean, and comfortable. Plenty of onsite parking. The bar was nice, with a roaring fire. A quirky building that was cosy and convenient.

United KingdomThe bathroom. Both the sink and bath needed plunging as it took a long for the water to drain away. The shower was hand held only although there was a cradle for the shower it did not fit. The cold water into the bath didn't work very well.
