Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe location wasn't revealed until shortly before my stay, which was frustrating as I wanted to organise transport. I was told someone would be there to hand over the keys: No one was there. Luckily I rang the company and they sent someone, but I did wonder if I had arrived late at night, I would have felt very vulnerable.
Amazing location, moments from Leicester Square, China Town and theatres. The apartment was very cosy: A comfortable sofa in the living room and a great bed. Plenty of space for clothes too.

GermanyI still don't understand why the reservation and the photos didn't match the reality.
The apartment is generally great, but it's completely different from what we reserved and not in the location we expected. The address is Craven 10A. // The dishes, bedding, everything was clean.

United Kingdom57 stairs to climb on a dirty stair carpet, no mention of that in the advert. Something, a sink , shower drain or the toilet smelt badly, Couldn’t self cater as the oven door would not open. Windows were filthy. Washing up and cleaning materials in abundance but no tea towels.
Location was excellent.

CanadaIt did not have enough toilet paper for the time that we were there. We had to buy half way through. The sofa bed should be changed. It is very uncomfortable and cannot sleep more than one person. It was so uncomfortable that we put the mattress on the floor after the first night.
The location is fantastic. The place is big relative to other places in London. It was a very nice place.

Francedespite double glazed windows, the street (very close to Leicester Square!) and hotel services nearby are sometimes noisy late at night and early in the morning.

he host was very pleasant and responsive. The apartment is very nice and tastefully decorated. Perfect location close to everything, station and metro.

United KingdomIf you need it quiet to sleep,it was no good,as its on quite a busy road, and alarm outside went off both nights.
Smart apartment in soho. For 3 people so much better than one hotel bedroom, but actually even for 1 or 2,if you like plenty of room.youve got a kitchen and a washer so for a longer stay that would also be useful.by being so central you save time and money on travelling.

United StatesThis is an attempt to describe what I believe is a fair rating that entails points lost as the location strives for five (stars). -0.5: the fees... My flight arrived at 7pm and the drive from Heathrow was too late to get me in by 20:00... I suppose my issue but the 11AM checkout or another 50 pound fee had me carrying bags all over London as I conducted business before my evening flight out. Not ideal. -0.5: Piccadilly... This just isn't true. It's a 20 minute walk at best. Fast was fun to learn when my coworker stopped to pick me up. He and the can driver from the airport really enjoyed my confusion... -0.5: rooms with a view. We'll this might have been true before the scaffolding was out up... But the only view /show begins at 0800, when the crotches of the construction workers start there day. (no points lost for the noise because I generally was out of the apartment when they began or shortly after) -0.5: What's that smell? There is definitely a mildew issue. It needs to be addressed. Also good to mention... The homeless rave from 23:00 to 02:00 on a Wednesday night. I suppose this may have been a random happening... But 40 homeless bumping techno was something I've never seen before and hope I never do again, while trying to sleep . (although good for them... I live that happiness and fun was their choice... It was the location and time that I struggled with). The rooms are all very nice as good or better than the pictures... the coffee and pastries next door are wonderful... The falafel next door is to die for... Room for improvement... More towels. A couple washrags and a couple more pillows... The bed feels like a Futon, but to be fair I slept quite well regardless.

United KingdomThe entrance to 49 Berwick St needs a deep-clean. Flat 3 itself is tatty in places & needs updating I.e. damaged walls where the door handle has been banged against the wall. Shower unit old & engrained with dirt. 2 biggest issues were related to single glazing. Which did nothing to keep the noise out (flip side of central location) & also meant the main room was cold. Whilst the property had a nest control the radiator in the living space did not come on. Also despite changing the heat setting this was over-written by whoever controlled the Nest centrally. Final issue was the shower very difficult to control the temperature as it was either scalding hot or freezing cold.
Location was central & comms were good.

CanadaWe had a difficult time with the internet but that may have been our SIM card issues. Also not a great hot water supply. Some of the showers we had were cold water only.

United KingdomIt was stressful not knowing exactly which property I was going to be allocated. The pictures show a few places and it appears it gets decided on the day. As such the livingroom space in my place was a lot smaller than I’d seen in pics. I was told, when trying to ask about this that I would need to provide a cash deposit of up to £200 on arrival. I’ve never been asked for a cash deposit and have booked many places over the years. It wasn’t requested in the end. Having to hang around to meet someone to get access was a pain. Keysafe would be a much easier option. One of the windows in bedroom did not have a handle and so did not close properly. Soho is a noisy place so this meant it didn’t drown out the sound as well.
Location is wonderful, right in the middle of Soho. Bed, bedding and space were clean and comfortable. I was able to book a slightly later check out for a few which was helpful.

GermanyWe were promised someone would be around to help us on our arrival. The guy arrived an hour later (my sympathies the managing company were expecting one guy to be available for multiple properties). Apartment was in need of some loving care, the blinds didn’t work properly. A little financial investment (painting, filling holes, setting up simple things like a working toilet roll holder, decent mattresses) would make this so much better.
Location is amazing. Right in the centre of London.

United StatesWe received totally different apartment. It was 15 min walk from announced square (longer distance than in description). It’s even no photo of this apartment here on booking.com. But even that location is not bad-a lot of restaurants around, but…it was a construction around all the building. At 7:30 am workers were around the building and at 8 am they began the loud work!!! It was impossible even to talk inside the apartment, so of course no possible to sleep after that time. I think you must to let your guests know about construction, it was a huge reason to book another property. I believe the reviews are so different because people stays at different properties and one is ok, another it totally different.
Nice apartment, big and clean. Friendly person who met us

ThailandThe location/map on booking.com web is not the actual location. They will send you the actual site 2 days before arrival. If you are not aware of this, like us, we did not get the email and did not look up in the booking website message. you will end up with going to the wrong place and finding nothing. Because the apartment is very close to the street and Chinatown so it is noisy at night. At exactly 10 am on the departure date, the cleaning person was at the door and we had to move immediately.
Great location. A few steps from the subway station. Close to a shopping street, with many restaurants nearby. The apartment is clean and fully equipped.
