Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe only down side was the evening meal. I dont mind small portions but these were small and not great. Breakfast was good you ordered off a menu not buffet style which relies on the waitress remembering what you ordered
The hotel is amazing, beautiful views and gardens to stroll round, even a croquet lawn. Decor is very period which we like. The room we had was fantastic with a roll top bath overlooking the fields. Room was named Max. We had the pool, sauna and steam to ourselves which was lovely.

United KingdomAs mentioned above we had a nice big room however, the décor and furnishings seemed very ordinary and could in no way be described as grand, and I have to say we felt rather disappointed. The bathroom was certainly large enough to have included a walk-in shower so it seemed a shame the shower was over the deep but narrow bath. Our own personal preference, but we found the pillows on the bed too soft and not what we are used to. Also, the TV was ageing, quite small and poor sound quality. Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment. The food selection felt more appropriate to a budget hotel, and often the choice was limited as several of the dishes hadn’t been restocked. On our first morning coffee was ordered that never arrived and the lack of plates for the buffet all seemed an uncharacteristic let down from the otherwise high standards of service. Would we stay here again? For the relaxing escape we were seeking it certainly did not disappoint. If it weren’t for the dissatisfying ordinariness of the Grand room and the frustrations with the breakfast we probably wouldn’t have to think twice.
Stapleford Park Hotel is immediately breath-taking in its architectural splendour, and is perfect for a secluded and tranquil retreat set in the middle of the Leicestershire countryside. The extensive grounds, with their mosaic of walled gardens and gentle outdoor activities such as croquet, putting and giant chess, are an ideal spot to devote to a relaxing and lazy weekend. We didn’t actually venture beyond the grounds from the moment we arrived until we departed, such was the beauty and appeal of the gardens. For the more active there is a gym which we didn’t try and as hotels go an excellent swimming pool. Internally the public areas and the dining rooms are stylish and beautifully decorated. We had booked a Grand room, which was large as also was the bathroom and enjoyed great views across the countryside (the twin wash basins were certainly a nice touch)- but please see further comments below As regards the meals we had, the food served for dinner was outstanding and service for both the evening we had room service and the two evenings in the restaurant was also excellent. On the Sunday we took advantage of the link with Rutland Outdoor Pursuits and had an hour session with Simon and Gill and their Falconry experience. We found this an absolutely thrilling time and definitely worth doing. The wonder of having the beautiful Barn and Tawny Owls land on your extended arm, and then the magnificent Eagle Owl and Red-Tailed Hawk became one of the highlights of our stay.

United KingdomHonestly, nothing.
The building and grounds are beautiful. The gardens (heavily laden apple and pear trees, fading late summer flowers, lawns) and trees (old and varied specimens) brought tears to my eyes, they were so lovely. The building was grand and unspoiled and it felt like we were guests of lord and lady someone, 100 years ago. Despite the grandeur, it was unpretentious and the staff were without exception, kind, helpful, warm, and friendly. We ate in the bar, and the drinks and food were very reasonably priced and tasty. The spa is in another wonderful building, the old stables. The treatments are good value, and again the staff were lovely. I also went for a great run, along country roads and through fields around the hotel.

United KingdomSome areas need a little attention to detail ie the curtains in the bedrooms were badly frayed. The breakfast buffet was pretty sparce even at 9.45am but the staff did bring new freshly cooked items on request. More could be done to make a relaxation area outside near the pool.
The bedroom was super and with a great view across the estate. The facilities were varied, the staff friendly especially at reception.

The setting is stunning and the staff were really helpful and very attentive. Sophie was especially helpful helping with dress issues and some glue needed. She's such an asset to Stapleford Park. Thank you Sophie x

United StatesOur only regret was an issue upon arrival. The first room we were placed in appeared to have been ill prepared for new guests. On of the complimentary bottles of water was opened and half used, and there were dead flies in the bathroom and the windowsills. We addressed the problem, and without haste, apologies were extended and a new room was secured for our stay. The situation left us feeling a tad uncomfortable, but those feelings quickly dissipated with each positive encounter we experienced hence forth.
We enjoyed a lovely stay at Stapleford to celebrate our 41st wedding anniversary. The accommodations were most pleasant, from the beautiful room to the delicious and plentiful breakfast. The grounds, so well kept and neatly manicured, made for an absolute picturesque atmosphere. Making our stay top notch was our time spent with Gill and Simon from Rutland Outdoor Pursuits — an activity opportunity we learned of through Stapleford Park. While Rutland Outdoor Pursuits offers various types of outdoor experiences, we chose Clay Pigeon Shooting for our desired activity. No need to leave the beautiful grounds of Stapleford, Rutland Outdoor Pursuits brought the fun right to our footsteps! Gill and Simon of R.O.P. were immediately welcoming, and their expertise, enthusiasm and warm personalities fostered a positive atmosphere for leaning and having a fabulous time. And that we did! Safety is their number one priority, which immediately put at us ease. They took their time and allowed us to thoroughly enjoy the experience. A job well done, by Gill and Simon — two lovely people who are passionate and well versed in their field of work, yet so easy to chat up the afternoon with! By the end of our excursion, we felt we had spent a wonderful afternoon having fun with fantastic friends. Thank you so much Gill and Simon for being the highlight of our wonderful stay at Stapleford Park!

United KingdomOn the second morning there was no buffet breakfast and we had to order from the menu. Unfortunately the quality of the breakfast just wasn't the same. We were also surprised to find that there was no basic information about the hotel in our room (facilities, times, activities, treatments, etc.). There was only a local guide about Leicester and another advertising wedding planning.
Great service, staff were very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the buffet breakfast on the first morning.

United KingdomWe had dinner and it was very good, but really on a hot summer evening it would have been nice to have had a salad and some lighter options.
The hotel is situated in the most delightful grounds and surrounding area. It is absolutely beautiful with fabulous architectural features. It could quite easily have been the inspiration for a Jane Austin novel.

United KingdomThe evening meal was very limited in choice. I chose the vegetarian option - which was nice - the other choice of lamb (I don’t eat), beef (a paid supplement) and a fish dish (I don’t eat fish). This was not just the mains but also the starters and at £55 for two courses I would have expected a beef not to be a supplement and possibly a chicken.
It’s a beautiful hotel - old style charm. Gardens and surroundings are lovely and the pool is very good. Didn’t have time to try the spa but it was recommended by others.
