Couldn't leave Nottingham until later than expected due to impromptu hospital visit. Was due to get there an hour after last check-in. Notified, was no problem for them. Friendly staff, clean room, comfortable bed.

No access for disabled people There is no information about breakfasts within the room (times and how to order) The twin room we had was tired - the wallpaper was peeling off the ceiling, the skirting was chipped, and the bathroom was old and dated.. There is not enough coffee or tea in the room

Room was a tad bit cold but wasn’t an issue as was warm in bed

A lovely warm welcome from Jack, his instructions were very clear and helpful, he showed me to the rooms (I stayed in No3) single room at back of hotel so was very peaceful, no noise heard from the pub downstairs which was fantastic, the room had its own shower so really it’s only the toilet I had to share which was in a spectate location and it was absolutely fine. The Southern cross was easy to find with ample parking. Food was good and great value. Room was clean with comfortable bed

Looks a bit sad with scaffolding up but repairs are always necessary so really not an issue.

Appears to be a pretty quiet location, I didn’t see much of the property as checked in late and out early.

The shower in the room didn't have a wooden door for privacy. This was in a twin room I was sharing with brother. So I had to go shower in the communal bathroom

Quite poor sound insulation towards the corridor. The shower could do with some refreshing (second shower head was missing, lime stains all over etc). Considering that the guesthouse belongs to a large chain I would have expected a bit more attention to such details too.

Friendly staff and quiet location above a pub close to the town centre and railway station. Bed was comfy and the sheets fresh. Pretty good value for money!

Just would of been nice to have my own toilet but purely for lone traveller purposes. As said before room 7 may be a good option to offer in these circumstances.

I stayed here in a single room as I was spending the weekend in the Watford area with my brother (he also stayed). The location for me was perfect for easy walking access into town. Food was gorgeous and the bar staff and waiting staff etc were so friendly and helpful. Being a woman staying on her own I felt very safe on the premises and in my room. Its a shame there is not a toilet in the room as this was the only thing (being a lone woman traveller) that I would of liked. However I did notice that room 7 was in a good location and tucked away with easier access to a bathroom and toilet so perhaps this is something I may request when I stay again. The Southern Cross is a great location for meeting up with my family and very cost effective meaning we can stay more than one night. Looking forward to our next meet up.

The walls are paper thin and you can hear conversations in detail along with breathing and yawning. The heating is central for all rooms with only one control dial in the hall, but it wasn’t a problem for me.

Though dated, I found it to be clean. Bar & Cleaning Staff are all helpful and friendly. The pub offers convenience as there is a kitchen with descent prices. Watford station is under a 10 minute walk. The en-suite shower was super handy!
