I didn't like leaving. Leaving got a 1 out of 10 from me. But the walk back across the moor lifted my heavy heart.

I cannot speak highly enough of this wonderful place to stay in the heart of Exmoor. Shabby chic, charming, and expertly run. Andrew had boundless energy and is a font of knowledge and good local tips. The Whiskies are amazing with some rare and vintage gems. A 1970s Bruichladdich is one of the jewels in Andrews liquid crown. My room had a view up the Barle valley which was amazing to lie back at night and stare along. And the walk along there to Exford and Withypool is glorious. I wish I'd stayed longer. Or just got a job there and remained. Andrew is a natural and his team do him proud.

Absolutely nothing, this hotel is one of the nicest places we’ve stayed at. 100% staying again.

The property is very welcoming, and is perfectly located for walks and other tourist attractions. It’s history can be seen as soon as you arrive. All the staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the area for walks and places to visit.

The wifi is not great but you are in the middle of nowhere so that's probably to be expected.

The staff here are brilliant, so helpful and friendly. They really care about the experience their visitors have and it feels like nothing is too much trouble. They even advanced me some cash when it turned out my taxi driver didn't take cards! My room was spacious and comfortable with a lovely view and a nice big bath to soak in after a day's hiking. The wood panelled bar is cosy and very well stocked. Try their own muesli for breakfast, it's delicious.

    it was all perfect!

This was a well needed break for us and what we wanted was somewhere comfortable and in a beautiful setting. This hotel exceeded our expectations. From the outset we were looked after by the staff, nothing was too much trouble. Such a personal touch from all with a warm welcome from the proprietors. The rooms were wonderful, I had a four poster bed with glorious views over the valley. We were able to walk out on the moor from the hotel which was a bonus. The food was a joy too! The quirkiness of the bar was also a delight, so much on offer and we found sitting in comfy armchairs by the fire with our drinks deeply relaxing! Can't really fault anything. Would certainly go again. Thank you Simonsbath Hotel. You are a gem.

The shower wasn’t that powerful, so I recommend the bath. You also need to pre order all meals. This seems a little odd at first until you get the hang of it.

Lovely traditional hotel with roaring fires of an evening, a four poster bed and stunning views. Very comfortable hotel with excellent customer service and friendliness from all the staff. The restaurant has an extensive menu. Very well located for walking on Exmoor. They offer packed lunches.

Outside of the property could do with having a tidy up, EG painted, weeded and some flowers to enhance the first impression. Rooms could have a tidy up, just small details attended to, EG grout replaced, cobwebs removed.

Tina on reception was very friendly, helpful and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The settees in the bar are soooo comfy! The bar is well stocked of spirits and Andy the owner is a great barman, good conversation and atmosphere. Breakfast choice was very good and tasty.

The owners and staff have hospitality off to a tee, I cannot see how it could be improved.

A "traditional" hotel in the best interpretation of that word. A very warm welcome on arrival after a hideous journey, a tasty, filling dinner after a couple of glasses of wine-r e l a x a t i o n!. Personal meal times were staggered to assist the chef, this worked very well. I had booked, and expected, a single room. Instead I was given a large, very comfortable double room, ensuite bathroom,, tea and coffee facilities and fresh milk collected from reception daily. Masks were worn by all when moving around. Breakfasts presented substantial choices, cooked to order and well tasty and filling, served by cheerful staff. I really enjoyed my stay, the hotel is away from the tourist busy coast but only 20 minutes drive away through the leafy lanes. Fantastic value for the money. I will definitely return.
