Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe room felt a bit dated. Super kind to put the beds in for the children in the family room, but there is paint missing on the corner above one of the beds, potentially from children/ adults hitting their heads off the low angle sharp corner. Also the tv in the room didn't work at all. not a big issue as we got there late, but would have imagined it to be a quick check when cleaning room that it still works.
breakfast buffet was great.

United KingdomI wasn’t impressed with our room, for £177 I expected to be comfortable and our room to be decorated to a more than satisfactory standard. The room we stayed in 110 on the first floor is in need of redecoration. Some of the wall paper is peeling off the wall/ ceiling and the room was very cold. It was a cold blustery night however I didn’t expect to be sleeping in robes as the draft coming through the windows was blowing the curtains.
Breakfast was good for the price, personally I would have like it to be hotter.

United Kingdomwe paid for a trip into the bazaar outdoor pool ,when we booked in we where told there were no bath robes remaining ,so we had to eat afterwards with just towels wrapped around ourselves ,this made my wife and myself feel very uncomfortable and cold ,so we didn't stay long ,very disappointing in view of the cost .overall we enjoyed our 2 night stay ,however we were in the top of the hotel at the rear entrance to the car park, under the canopy ,i noticed dog poo just inside the canopy to the left of the double doors ,this remained there for the whole of our stay, the lift we used also had been urinated in by presumably a dog (hopefully not human ) and stank to high heaven ,we reported this but it remained in this state for a full day ,as on our return from a day out shopping it still remained so we used the stairs ,on the whole the hotel is very tired and in my opinion understaffed ,and in need of some maintenance the bathrooms in need of new silicon sealer as they pottery ,and bath ,sink have mold on the silicone ,the window was rotten on the bottom ,and in need of replacing ,also we where told that towels ,condiment's (tea coffee ,milk etc. ) would only be replaced every 3rd day ,i have never experienced this in any hotel in the UK or overseas .we have had trips to this hotel in the past and played golf ,but to be honest the hotel has deteriorated ,if i was a hotel inspector i would rate as follows staff effort 2 out of 5 probably due to staff shortage . setting location 5 out of 5 breakfast 4 out of 5 cleanliness 2 out of 5 overall condition of rooms /decor 1 out of 5 total 14 out of 25 in my opinion 1 star at a push Mabey 2 stars hope this review helps
breakfast was very good ,and the layout of the bar was very good, plenty of free parking .room smaller than photo on advertising and in poor condition .

United KingdomThere is still alot of work to be done to be refurbished, our room looked modernised, the bathroom wasn't, it was old-fashioned but clean. The access to the top floors would be difficult if you couldn't use stairs to get to the lift.
The hotel was amazing, the grounds, the staff, the food, the spa. He staff couldn't do enough for you, so helpful , from checking in , getting lost! Room service, at dinner too. The spa, sauna, pool steam were so relaxing & the outside pool was amazing, looking out over the grounds, while sitting in the hot bubbling water in the cold weather was so nice.

United KingdomThe wifi was horrendous. It was nice to have a few days offline but it did make things a bit impractical during the evening when we wanted to watch tv and it wouldn’t connect to anything. No fridge in the room. The dinner options were limited and rather expensive. We ended up leaving the restaurant to go into the town.
Breakfast was lovely. The hotel in and grounds in general were so beautiful and the room was massive although quite cold. The spa was lovely however it was slightly annoying that the time there was limited. The staff were all very nice and accommodating.

United KingdomShabby, tired and poorly appointed bedrooms for the money paid. Rooms without windows from which to look out and a barely reachable sky light. An uncovered fusebox on wall, blocked sinks, shower with little pressure, a toilet where the cistern takes 5 minutes to fill, filthy, threadbare carpets, no add on toiletries other than soap e.g. shower cap, tissues or cotton balls, limited room service over Christmas (no one makes beds) etc. would be fine if there was a discount but prices in spa, restaurant and bar all hiked up for the festive period. I like Shrigley Hall but felt cheated on this occasion.
Location, grounds, friendly, helpful (if not necessarily best trained) staff, atmosphere in communal areas.

United KingdomBathroom floor and some features looked a bit grubby, we were put nextdoor but one to a lift which was a very busy lift, doors in the corridors not on a mechanism to close gently so they constantly banged with people going through in the early hours of the morning. We had afternoon tea with a lovely view out onto the grounds of the property until a van pulled up in front of the windows - it was a php hygiene van that really didnt need to be parked blocking the view for guests for at least 45 mins - i mentioned it to two staff as we specifically wanted a window seat to enjoy the scenery and not one member of staff was prepared to ask the van to move around the back with all other service vehicles in the car park. Shame really - just some finishing touches goes the extra mile.

United KingdomBreakfast was expensive for what it was, it would be better if that was included even if it inreases the price a little. Lounge Bar was noisy / no areas for quieter drinks and drinks choice felt a bit limited ie cocktails
The surrounding area was beautiful, decor in general was nice The temperature of the rooms was also good, one of the first hotels that the temperature was right.

United KingdomNoisy guests shouting down the corridors at 3am. We bought our dog but found it difficult to find anywhere for him to run because every green space seemed to be a golf hole. A fenced off area for dogs would be nice.
It would have been nice to have a couple of comfy chairs in the room since I like to sit and read. Dinner was great and breakfast was a good spread. I like that we were given a time spot to go to breakfast. All the staff were very friendly and smiley 😃
