Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdomunfortunately the night we stayed there was a disco being held there that evening and our room was right above this. (room 4). only room that was not near sound would probably bee room 6. music, singing stopped about 11:30. however, staff were pleasant and efficient and restaurant served delicious food cooked to order.
in a good location not far from riverside walk which looks very pretty. a little bit restricted parking but we managed to get a parking space.

United KingdomThe room was clean, spacious with cottage style character furnishings. The food was great and the staff were helpful and friendly. We travel with our two dogs often and not only was this place dog friendly, it was the one place that doesn’t charge extra for pets to stay. I would rate it 5 stars for that alone! Also, breakfast was included in the price and was huge! The owner, Simon, was lovely and extremely helpful. I would fully recommend staying here!

The Royal oak is a quirky little pub. Please don't take any notice of the U tube video a man put on a couple of years as nothing is right from his footage. The place was incredibly clean and very tastefully decorated. With even fresh coffee a true bonus.

United KingdomIt is a little bit noisy because the music in the bar can be heard in the rooms. It did not impact us because it was off after closing time but it might be something to consider if you are early to bed !!
The Royal Oak is a very nice place to stay . It is comfortable and the rooms are recently decorated to a very good standard. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

United KingdomThe mattress on the bed was dreadful. You could feel the springs poking through and it was so worn on one side that I kept rolling towards the edge. I had to sleep on top of the duvet for any comfort. The paintwork on the doors was dirty and on switches there was an accumulation of dust suggesting that the room didn't get a thorough clean that often. It was a shame as otherwise the stay was an enjoyable one.
As I was travelling alone I wanted a friendly, welcoming place to stay and the Royal Oak fulfilled that brief. This is very much a locals pub so it didn't feel impersonal. "Pub grub" done well, though a few more veg wouldn't have gone amiss.

United Kingdomwelcome was warm. Breakfast beautiful and room had what we needed. Feedback would be that my partner and I are both very tall, so while comfortable the bed felt snug and we did fight over the duvet.

United KingdomBeing a local pub there is inevitably some noise from the bar, Room 5 particularly suffers from this - maybe speakers below could be moved or a maximum setting arranged for volume.
Clean and comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff with good food and beer.

United KingdomOnly one minor criticism, and that's the price, however, Cornwall prices are considerably more expensive than where I'm used to booking accommodation (in Eastern Europe)!
I arrived having cycled from Penzance and via Lands End! It was dark (recently), and the staff looked after me extremely well, the room was spacious, warm, and I was able to get a good evening meal, and breakfast as well before continuing the ride of torture the following day, the destination on this occasion being Newton Abbot. Lovely country pub, good atmousphere, but quiet in the room, and a good nights sleep was had.

United KingdomJust a word of warning for any early birds to bed, it was fine for me but the music in the bar was played until 2am which was very loud in rooms. May not be suitable for everyone.

United KingdomI wanted a bath not a shower but I was too tired to say anything
Breakfast was sublime, I originally ordered poached eggs on toast until I saw another guests breakfast arrive and quickly changed my order to the full English, truly scrummy- the coffee was also very good. The evening before I had fish & chips and again, very very tasty with no lingering fried flavour. The fish was very fresh and beautifully cooked. The landlord and staff made me and my dog feel very welcome, the locals were equally friendly. I would not hesitate recommending The Royal Oak Inn, it surpassed itself on value for money. I know where I'll be booking the next time I come to Cornwall.
