Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomSadly the desk wasn't manned at 8am for checkout and calling the number/ringing the bell didn't get anyone. There wasn't a safe key drop for checking out either. Beds were a little solid and the pillows were lumpy but the biggest thing was the room was drafty. The window didn't close so all the noise from the port came in and it was cold unless the electric heater was left on. I've paid less for better in the centre of Glasgow. Did also find a woodlouse and the carpets were covered in white hair, clearly hadn't been hoovered .
All the staff were amazing, really nice when I showed up. The room was nice with a nice view and the bathroom was nice.

United KingdomRoom wasn't great, we got a budget family room as we had a dog. Very dated, plug socket wasn't safe, shower head was broken and room wasn't that clean. The bedding was though and we just needed somewhere to sleep for the night so it did the job.
Very friendly greeting from Dylan, lovely view and bed was comfortable.

United KingdomWhilst the room was comfortable with the electric heater the bathroom was freezing. Not ideal during a visit in January It was only when we arrived that I was told the kitchen and bar were closed for our stay. This was inconvenient but would have been a problem if we didn’t have a car and had to walk the 45 minutes to the town centre. The building is being renovated but little care was taken to avoid a bag of cement by the front door
Our room was overlooking the ferry. It was comfortable and the decor was good. The architecture of the building is fascinating and the owners should be proud of their attempts to renovate it .It seems a lifelong project. I arrived on my own for the first night and was upgraded to the sea view double we booked for the second night.

United Kingdomyou can tell she’s been a grand old lady who’s needing bit of tlc but I believe they are refurbing. bed was lovely and comfortable but it was 2 single beds just placed together and seam was annoying right down the middle. we had a superior room windows were a wee bit marked but just gave a wee wipe with some loo roll, couple wee bits on wall where paints flaked off but was alright didn’t effect me.
room was massive and clean, good shower great view to the ferry terminal watching comings and goings, plenty seats in garden at front and lucky enough to have great weather to sit out. morag ( I think her name was) on reception was lovely.

United KingdomWe were put in staff quarters! Room was in disrepair and damp. Cold. No hot water. Dirty. Wasn't willing to even try shower. Bathroom floor wet through in morning. Not as advertised as we weren't even in the gorgeous hotel. Took key to reception at 8am and rang bell to complain and no-one came! Gorgeous building but never had the chance to experience it. Yes a budget room but £60 .... seriously n that's with no breakfast 😕

United KingdomWe've stayed in some sub par hotels and appreciate the fact that this hotel is an old building and would be costly to renovate completely. The hotel had an unwelcoming feeling besides the lady on reception, the bar had no Sky TV, was empty and lights turned off early, the restaurant wasn't open whenever we went past. The grand staircase had 3 different carpet styles and hadn't been hoovered in some time. We didn't eat at the hotel so I can't comment on the food. We were disappointed in the location, didn't realise it was so far from the town centre which is perhaps our fault for not checking properly. This meant we spent a fair bit on taxis so that we could have wine with dinner while out. As for our room, we paid a £30 upgrade to get a sea view of the ferry terminal :-(. We stayed in the Skye room which was spacious, the decor wasn't the best, very cheap looking. It looked like water had run down the walls at some point and there were cobwebs from the headboard to the wall. There were 2 different patter of carpet joined with a metal runner that I hurt my feet on twice as the screws kept popping up. The socket for the kettle was behind the large dresser which was considerably damaged, we had to climb behind it to plug the kettle in. The bathroom wasn't the cleanest, towels very thin and tiny, no glasses, the shelf was missing so nowhere to put toiletries and the shower was positively claustrophobic, it was so small. I'd like to add that locals told us this hotel was used by people during Covid for long stay and though I completely understand the hotel doing what they could to stay open through the pandemic it looks like there are still some long term guests. Every time we came in or out of our room there was a distinct smell of cannabis/green Though Dunoon is lovely we definitely will not visit this hotel again and felt it was a lot of money spent for 2 rather disappointing nights away.
Not much to be honest, only met 1 staff member at the hotel and she was very nice and helpful and the room was spacious.

United KingdomThe hotel is a work in progress. There is no full time reception, the decor is shabby. The shower base filled up with water. At breakfast the service was poor, there was a very large urn marked tea and another marked coffee, no other teas were available. There was limited cereals, two jugs with juice, and toast. No breakfast menu, a lad asked what I wanted. I asked what was available and he gave a rambling answer about bacon rolls and eggs. I didn't feel confident enough to try the cooked breakfast. I will not use the hotel again.
The swallows flying around the terrace and the view over the loch. The bed was comfortable.

United KingdomNo staff manager was also receptionist, mix up with other people in partys booking. Was not on system and had to wait till manager cleaned room! Decor very poor looks like tried to decorate in parts but very unfinished. Cob webs in bedroom. Very dirty windows. Curtains odd sizes!! Dampness in staircase. This could be a lovely hotel but seems lack of staff and unfinished and botched attempts at decorating are letting it down.

United Kingdomold building - needs urgent renovation; no wifi; lots of construction workers; staff were friendly enough but seemed rather eccentric; DO NOT buy the breakfast - for £8 per person you get ONE sausage, ONE piece of bacon, an egg, ONE rock solid potato scone and a lovely dry hash brown - thought the orange and apple juice were nice and so was the toast (only because you do it yourself though!)
good location - and easy to check out

United KingdomFirst room terrible, below any standard for £60 per night (without breakfast) and tile in bathroom broken! Moved to another room, okay but newly fitted bathroom: loose toilet, loose tap in sink, nowhere to put soap in shower and shower door wouldn’t close! When room was £60 and breakfast was another £14 on top, that doesn’t equate to basic and horrible, which was experience of first room! But second room was more like £75 in value! Breakfast was one of the best we’ve ever had!!
Lovely breakfast, and looked after by lovely older gentleman doing breakfasts!

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing - everything was perfect!
The actual building was amazing, so grand and beautiful yet very comfortable. Access was so easy from the ferry terminal. The location is excellent for travelling fairly short distances to other interesting and scenic places, and the views were outstanding. Plenty of eating places also, good food and good value. Our dog was made to feel like an honoured guest, not here on sufference. The peace and tranquility of the hotel and the surroundings were just what was needed to de-stress. I can't wait to come back!
