Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomThere was nothing not to like. A few more glasses. The cottage sleeps 10 but only services 6 to 8 guests. The kitchen could do with some more cooking utensils.
The cottage was warm clean and comfortable. Hot tub well maintained.

Fabulous accommodation with good size rooms and the hot tub was fab! Beautiful location beside mini Loch. I would stay again and definitely recommend it.

United KingdomNeeding a freshen up. General damp stains and smell in cottage. No light bulb in twin room ceiling light. We had to buy matches and fire lighters. We left some pans and oven trays cleaner than when we arrived. Only 3 teaspoons. Kitchen basin grubby. Old urine stains on mattresses (downstairs room). Dining table seats 8, shame we couldn’t all eat together.
Excellent location. Enough beds & space for party of 10. Hot tub was fun. Two fridges very helpful. Cosy living room.

United KingdomOn arrival the key box was not secure so anyone could have entered the property, in addition the double doors into the living room were also found to be open. The key to the back door was not found until our third day behind a lamp on a shelf. On entering the property a number of issues were found and are detailed below: Carpets covered in dog hairs - they charge £35 fee for taking a dog so would expect carpets to be clean. Wooden chair in conservatory broken The fridge had not been cleaned and a plastic shelf was broken and dirty Cups were dusty and two were cracked Wooden spoons in kitchen were not fit for use split in half cracked and unhygienic The tea towel provided for use was dirty! Crockery in cupboards were found to have hairs on them Pans had not been cleaned with lids dirty The fitted sheet in the downstairs bedroom did not fit the bed The toilet seat in the main bedroom was not secure and could not be secured properly The shower door in upstairs bathroom was not hanging properly (lying at angle) which meant water could escape Wicker seating outside at hot tub was broken as was a wicker step beside hot tub Cabinets in conservatory had damage on edges and food spills on surface The hoover provided did not pick up much The fridge at the rear door had a broken handle and various bits inside the fridge were broken Cigarette butts had been left outside the rear door Paint work in a few areas showed signs of damage 4 empty DVD boxes were found Cobwebs evident Splash marks on wooden wall and ceiling On finding the main issues shortly after arrival we phoned the Retreat Group to complain on the number provided only to be told we had to phone Speyside Property Services. When I first phoned the response was not great but the on call maintenance guy came and took photographs of a number of the issues that we had noted at that time (others noted after he had left). A cleaner was sent on the Sat to sort bed sheets and hoover.
Hot tub was good, rooms in general were well sized with enough space for 6 adults 1 child and a dog. Parking was fine for 3 cars and the cottage was fairly secluded. At some point the decor was tastefully done but now tired and needing a refresh.
