Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaNo staff is a 2-edged sword, especially if you are mobility-impaired. Fellow guests helped me with my bags fortunately. Not convenient to town, but in a nice neighborhood setting.
Wonderfully furnished room with many extras that you never see in hotels. Furnished as a B&B without those pesky people who actually live there. The only staff is a friendly hard-working cleaning lady who magically appears each morning. Very well-stocked mini-bar and a complete honor bar in the lounge.

United KingdomThe situation is high on a hill at the back of the town, giving lovely views, but the walk back from the waterfront is steep and not for the unfit or faint hearted. The Main Street of Tobermory is lovely, and Café Fish excellent, if pricey. the only criticism of the room was the irritating modern style of not providing a shelf in the bathroom to put one's toilet bag. On the floor next to the loo is not ideal.
The sea view is well worth the extra cost as the light on the water is constantly changing. the décor of the room is interesting, not entirely to my taste, but it was very clean and comfortable. The frig was full of all sorts of goodies, some of them for breakfast, including smoked salmon and cream cheese, croissants, yogurt and fruit salad. Most of it laden with sugar , which could be a point for improvement. Bathroom quite adequate apart from the absence of anywhere to put one's toiletries. Access from outside was easy and absence of staff on site was not a problem. The cleaners came in at about 10.30 so we knew when it was time to leave! Very luxurious and comfortable.

NetherlandsDidn't not like - but suggestion for improvement! Having somewhere (coat hook on the door?) to hang wet or heavy jackets near the door would have been a nice addition! We hung them in the shower, but the hanging space in the main room was a bit limited / not close enough to the door.
Breakfast was very cute (unless you are expecting a cooked breakfast but for us it was great) and all the extra snacks and drinks were also appreciated!

United KingdomBreakfast provided was an odd "continental " sort placed in room each day. On our last morning there was no hot water, had been fine before that. We found it odd not having the owner or staff there. We saw a cleaning lady one morning who was very nice.
Location great, room comfortable with great bathroom.

United KingdomNot a dislike just feedback. The carpet is very pale. Would suggest you either provide slippers or a good size inside door mat for shoes.

United KingdomThe addition of one more light by the table/chairs would have made a big difference. And breakfast was OK but with a few tweaks could be amazing. Loved the idea of the food hamper in our room so that we could enjoy at our leisure (especially as we were leaving early to catch a ferry) however thought that the choice of products provided could have had a little more care and included more locally sourced products (the artisan biscuits for example came from the Cotswolds) Also would have appreciated some slightly healthier options like fresh fruit, plain yoghurt (without all the addition of syrupy fruit) and less of the sweet carb heavy croissnats/muffins, biscuits etc...
LOVED the room!! Definitely one of the best places we stayed during our week in Scotland. The quality of furnishings/bedding etc was great and overall ambience of the room simply lovely. Very easy to book....It's the first time we've experienced 'self check in etc' - all very easy! Appreciated the honesty bar.....despite the fact that we didn't use it weirdly. A great location

Breakfast was good. Complementary drinks was an amazing extra and the honesty bar for the Whisky was a lovely touch. I liked that fact I could check in without having to deal with anyone. Bathroom was amazing

AustraliaThe main reason for our rating is the size of the rooms which is very small and cramped. The decor is new but the size is limiting. The beds were comfortable but it would help to identify the breakfasts and drinks in the fridge as complimentary as we had to google reviews to determine this. Don't expect harbour views and you need to drive to town.
Roslyn House is beautifully restored and the check in is all remote and easy.

GermanyUpon arrival, we faced issues with the self-check-in system due to not receiving the necessary access codes, which required contacting the owner via phone due to the absence of on-site staff. Seemingly, Roslyn House leans more towards a self-catering facility with daily housekeeping rather than functioning like a traditional guesthouse or boutique hotel. The honesty bar operates on a cash-only basis, which could pose an inconvenience for guests like us that are accustomed to cashless payments. Additionally, the overlap of fridge contents with the honesty bar offerings in our room created confusion regarding which items were complimentary, leading us to avoid consuming anything to prevent unexpected charges (i.e. for the bottle of sparkling wine contained in our fridge). The breakfast offering was underwhelming, consisting solely of store-bought packed items such as croissants and biscuits that were already contained either in the fridge or a tray next to the coffee machine upon our arrival. Consequently, there are no fresh products available. This arrangement did not meet our expectations of a "breakfast included" setup, suggesting that marketing Roslyn House as a self-catering guesthouse would be more fitting. We ended up eating out on our first morning and buying additional items such as cheese and oat cakes for the other two mornings. Just as a heads-up to future guests, but not a major constraint: Practical amenities such as sufficient power outlets and USB ports were surprisingly lacking, we had to unplug a speaker and a lamp to find a free power outlet to charge our phones. Furthermore, be aware that access to Main Street where all restaurants and shops are located involves a steep 10-minute walk down the hill, which might be challenging for those with mobility issues.
Roslyn House, a newly opened guesthouse in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, beautifully merges historic charm with modern design in a converted historic building. Opened in October 2023, it offers stylish accommodation with 8 spacious rooms, each featuring fancy wallpaper and large, comfortable beds. The modern bathroom in our room no. 8 was well-equipped and included nice bathrobes, always a personal favorite of mine. The common area provides a cozy environment with plush sofas and chairs, complemented by an honesty bar that boasts a vast selection of beer, wine, soft drinks, gin, and whisky. Additionally, each room comes equipped with a fancy Nespresso machine and a fridge stocked with beverages, enhancing the comfort of your stay. Parking is conveniently available on the street for free, adding to the ease of access to the guesthouse.
