Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNot a thing
Our stay at Rose Cottage was everything we expected and more. Directions to the property and instructions for the keys were spot on, Giles popped round in the evening to introduce himself. The cottage was clean, comfortable, cosy and warm, logs were supplied for the fire and Christmas decorations had been put up for us. It was the perfect Christmas get away and we’ll definitely be returning.

AustraliaA few more amenities would have been appreciated- eg 4 coffee pods for 3 adults staying 4 days were provided. But we had been alerted to basic provisions provided so maybe it was our misunderstanding.
A great location to explore the south coast , quaint cottage as described on line , really clean throughout and reasonably well equipped kitchen. Owners responded to queries during booking process and our stay promptly.

We had a lovely stay in the cosy cottage despite the bad weather. We were warmly welcomed by the host. It was very clean, good beds. Everything you need for a holiday was there. The welcome folder was very handy and plenty to visit nearby. Highly recommended!

United KingdomDriveway is horrendous, I drive everyday 100 miles daily on average & I have never struggled to park like I did on this drive .. also the view when you leave the driveway back onto road is obstructed so it is a slight hazard (road is fairly busy ) Other than the driveway we had a perfect stay

United KingdomAll good really, a small suggestion would be to add a privacy adhesive to the bathroom window (or else a small courtain) to add some privacy when in the bathroom, which overlooks the garden and golf course. A small detail, really.
The cottage is easy to get to, and a short walk to the village with a couple of good options for eating out. It is tastefully decorated inside with great attention to detail. We stayed in quite a bit, enjoying the large, very well-kept garden and all the games that the hosts kindly leave at guests' disposal (badminton, croquet). Eating out in the gazebo was also a wonderful experience. Thank you very much!

United Kingdomit was difficult to park on the hard standing/drive this was due to the odd curve of the front railings. I tried both reverse and forwards parking, it was very tight. this could be resolved by removing the angled rail to a straight one, giving some room to swing a vehicle, the entrance was also onto a busy road with a blind spot and again made parking tricky. the internal staircase and ladder type stairs to the attic is difficult if you have any mobility problems. it could be highlighted in the advert for the cottage. although ascetically pleasing the main front bedroom windows are original and had huge gaps. traffic noise was present due to a busy road, wind was coming in, on colder days this would be a problem. most other windows were newer and more efficient. a little note to the owner that the plant on the main bedroom window needs trimming as all night the branches were knocking against the window like someone was continually tapping, it was disturbing, a trim would stop that.
excellent facilities, the garden was so beautiful with lots of extras, games to use outside, a fire pit, BBQ, comfortable seating. the cottage was quirky @ decorated to a high standard. the facilities were excellent & again reflected how much effort the hosts had put in. the location was within a short walk of pubs, a nice cafe & a general shop. a very green area with walking trails so close.

United KingdomRose Cottage is a prefect little cottage, in a very pretty village, with a couple of decent pubs, and a very lively tearoom. Very close to Portsmouth, Goodwood and coastal sites. The cottage is over 250 years old and a delight to stay in. We sat and admired the lovely pieces of history that have been preserved in the building by the current owners. The cottage has been updated superbly for modern living, with big comfy beds, excellent bathroom and kitchen facilities, with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. Rose Cottage has a vast garden with garden chairs, a fire pit, and a canopied round seating area with heating and lighting installed. A lovely place to sit and relax. Stacey and Giles have put much thought and care into ensuring that every guest can enjoy this wonderful little cottage.

United KingdomNot really a dislike but the stair ladder up to the loft room would be tricky for people with mobility problems or larger builds. However the kids (aged 15 and 10) saw it as a mini adventure.
Beautiful large garden with views over a golf course. Very clean, stylish and welcoming interiors, with rooms and a bathroom that were bigger than expected for a cottage. Cosy family room with log burner - which was a treat. Very picturesque village with excellent grocery shop and pub. Good location for seeing the sights of Hampshire. Very friendly and helpful owners.
