Beautiful location but our room needed a bit of TLC

We really struggled with the lack of any blind on the velux windows in room 2. There was one blind/curtain in our whole room and that was on the velux in the bathroom. Being summer, it was bright early which meant we had really disturbed sleep. The room itself needs a bit of TLC, there were quite a few marks and holes in the walls and there was a big hole in the duvet cover of the small pull out bed.

The location was great, in a really beautiful setting. Easy to find and we were given instructions for the gate beforehand so had no problem accessing the property. Good selection of breakfast items.

No towels on arrival. Upon request towels were provided however only one towel per person. We stayed for 4 nights! Owner prior to arrival was difficult to get in contact with to arrange keys. No outside bin for rubbish. Longer stays meant our rubbish over flowing inside bin. Breakfast was only provided for first day. No fresh milk, bread, fruit etc provided daily. The booking did state a continental breakfast but as I said we only had this for the first day! No drying towel for dishes. No shower gel. Toiletries appeared to be what previous visitors left behind.

Great location. Comfortable beds. Plenty of space for 4 people. Could park your car at property.

Couldn't get hold of host before travelling to accommodation or at check-in...phone number given kept going to voicemail. No instructions on how to access gate or how to check in given before arrival. Double bed felt small due to board at the bottom. But I'm 6'3.

Location was ideal for the family event we had to attend. Amazing Selection of items for breakfast and snacks. Shower was great Price for the Location was considered what the local pub charges and what you'd pay staying in Bath.

Some instructions for operating the gate would have been useful. The gate appeared to respond to a movement, sensor, as it opened when I went out to my car. I then couldn't understand why it didn't open when I tried to leave. After a couple of minutes I noticed the push button, which was not very obvious. Unfortunately, the breakfast items were not suitable for my needs, as I do not eat white bread, pancakes or pikelets. Some brown bread would have been nice.

The room was excellent, very spacious and comfortable, and with the added bonus of a private patio seating area directly off the room.

Only one thing, what I thought was butter for breakfast was some all purpose fat which I did not like. One minor observation was no table to eat breakfast from. I know there are lap trays, but a table would be my preference.

Lovely self contained cottage, very clean and well equipped, comfortable bed, good location for me.

We had a hard time trying to get in the house with a skeleton key. Also there was a pub fairly close that played loud music outside until 11pm. There is a train behind the house.

It was a continental breakfast with orange juice, milk, bananas, frozen yogurt, cereal, bread, and packaged pastry. Nice 2 bedroom, 2 bath house. Don’t forget to read your email for the code to get in the privacy gate.

Very comfortable house for a break
    • Leisure trip
    • Family with young children

    • Stayed 1 night

The listing says that there is a sofa bed in the living room, but it is a small fold-up bed with a thin mattress, possibly suitable for a young child. It would be great if the blinds on the Velux windows in the bedrooms could be black-out ones (but it must be said that it is so nice to find a holiday cottage with good, thick curtains at the bedroom windows, so we are not complaining!).

Very comfortable, clean and well presented. Larger than expected - plenty of space for a faily of four. Great that breakfast is provided. Good location. The beds in the bedrooms were very comfortable. We were there for only one night, so we can't say how well equipped it would be for a whole week, but it looked as if there were plenty of things there, including the important items like a dishwasher! Ref previous reviews, the trains were not a problem at all (just a faint rumble occasionally), and there was WiFi. We really enjoyed it and would definitely go back there.

Something I've read before in the comments and I can understand: no curtains on the Velux roofwindows. I can understand for certain people that might be a problem. For me personally I slept like a rose.

Superb location, easy check-in with welcome mail. Enjoyed the facilities very much, plenty of food to make your own breakfast. Will book again when in the area! Ideal if you visit Nick Masons Open Middelwick House event in the beginning of June.

The lock on the front door was extremely difficult to unlock; I came back late at night and struggled to unlock it. It took me 5 minutes and I was sober.

I liked its location; not only its proximity to the town centre but also the grounds. I liked the spaciousness on both floors and the well-equipped kitchen & utility room. I liked the back garden which was private and the view over the surrounding countryside. I liked the Velux windows upstairs which allowed in cool air and the delightful dawn chorus.

Had to ask the next-door neighbour how to enter the property as we failed to get a message about the code. The breakfast wasn't the best as it was stale cereal. There is no option of a fried breakfast either, so don't expect one.
